fort dodge firefighters are coming off of a cold and sleepless night. they're monitoring the scene of one of the city's biggest fires in years. this is a big fire. fortunately they are few and far between. and think the last big was a church downtown that burned a few years ago this tire warehouse, right across the street from the fire department, caught fire early yesterday afternoon... crews say the flames and smoke could easily be seen from miles away. webster city assisted by truck, allowing firefighters to attack the fire from above. officials say it was necessary because the warehouse was full of exploding propane tanks and flammable tires. one firefighter suffered a minor injury. the cause remains under investigation. authorities are also looking into a restaurant fire in strawberry point... crews from 3 cities worked in shifts yesterday morning to prevent frostbite. they also kept hoses on the entire time... fearing they would free if shut off. still, the restaurant is a total loss and residents say it will greatly missed. back home is such an i

fort dodge police were also called to a bank robbery today... but in this case the suspect didn't get away. 57-year old juan flores-andino is charged with robbery and interference causing injury. police say he robbed the great western bank in fort dodge just before ten this morning. he was arrested following a claims of sex abuse led to a federal raid this week in southeast iowa... f-b-i.. and d-c-i agents carried out the raid at midwest academy in keokuk. they also searched a nearby treatment center in montrose. the agencies are investigating allegations that a staff member sexually abused a former student. midwest academy is a boarding school that enrolls students from across the nation. the department of human services spent today interviewing current students for sign of possible abuse. so far no charges are filed. a rough start for a new driver in cedar rapids... the 16-year old landed her first ticket this week... but surprisingly her father was happy about it... sarah mccarthy explains. fort dodge police say a man is behind bars.. accused of throwing a fake bomb-like device inside a home. 40-year-old tyrone fudge is charged with "simulated explosive violation" and first degree harrassment. police say fudge threw an object with a lighter attached to it through the kitchen window of a fort dodge home yesterday. authorities searched the suspect's home and say fudge had another similar device in his home. a fort dodge business went up in flames this afternoon... it happened at the "goodyear tire storage", near the corner of 17th street and central avenue. officials say one firefighter was hurt while fighting the flames. they say it wasn't just the cold slowing their efforts... heavy load of tires and there was a propane tank that ended up exploding during the incident. it was just a matter of putting out enough water on still no word on the cause of the fire. the community of boxholm is mourning the loss of four people from one family. amber sorenson and her three children died in a house fire yesterday morning. an
