[ light laughter ] >> and the audience was like, ha ha. [ laughter ] >> next. something about christmas. >> seth: is it true that at the groundlings, one of the sort of sketch would be that you guys >> yes. we spend way too much. >> seth: because breakaway glass is not cheap. grand. were going to a gotcha interview with larry king. he was going to finally nail you guys. you guys have been getting off scot-free for too long. >> yeah, too long. >> seth: so tell us about the "idiotsitter." i feel like we get a little bit about the idea from the clip. i'm going to go sitter idiot. >> yes. >> seth: so tell us about the show. >> i play sort of a woman who spent way too long in academia and gets out of her maybe seventh grad school and has tons of student debt and can't get a job, so she answers an ad for a baby-sitter. >> and when she shows up, she finds out the baby she's sitting is me on house arrest. [ light laughter ] a real screw-up. >> and her dad's like so rich that, she should be in jail, but he works it out with the judge that she just has to have 24 hour supervision. >> seth: and this is very exciting. and when you find out -- obviously you shoot a pilot for a show like this, that's a clip from the pilot, which is fantastic, by the way. then you get ordered for a series. how did you react when you got picked up by comedy central for >> we lost ou

not, not really accurate, but >> seth: gotcha. because if it was really based really your sister in this movie, you're saying your sister is a woman of loose morals. >> my sister is yeah, a loose, loose party animal. >> setet yeah. >> and i was actually the party y animal and the caretaker, so i had all the dysfunction all in my sister was the '70s fox who got a lot of dates was shy, sweet, beautiful, had like very natural, beautiful hair and really flat stomach. and i looked like a '50s farm wife. [ laughter ] and so, this is inspired by that. d inspired just by all the sisters that, you know, one gets laid and the other doesn't. [ laughter ] >> seth: now, you kept a journal, you used to bring your childhood journal to "snl" -- >> i did. >> seth: and read it out loud. tina, do you remember any of the highlights? >> oh my god. i remember there was a lot of cut-out pasted-in photos of sylvester stallone. . >> seth: gotcha. >> and he gave me the script to read there. >> seth: and so right away -- i mean, when he gives it to you, you know you're going to say yes, right? you don't even have to read it? >> i mean, there is -- there are rumors of some people who've said no. >> seth: oh, wow. >> i mean, there's a couple of quite famous stories of actors who said, you know what, that's i can't handlelehat right now. >> seth: and so with "reservoir dogs", his first film, it was the same thing? did he have you in the mind for the sa part with that? >> no, i don't think he did. no, he didn't know me. he had seen -- it was this sort of a script comes from the agent and, you know, that kind of stuff. but as soon as i read it, i knew we were on to something, that this is thisisncredibly talent was being born. and you can tell just from t t writing, the quality and the music and the writing. >> sh: how did you audition for "reservoir dogs"? >> well, i had this thing where excuse my language. [ laughter ] it's "late night," right? >> seth: it's very late. it's very late. >> yeah, mother[ bleep ]. [

[ light laughter ] "girls, girls, i would like you to meet the ambassador --" >> we're like, hi! [ laughter ] that's not a real place. because your whole life, obviously, you dream of what you're going to be doing when you meet the ambassador of palau and then you guys totally duffed it. >> every night as a child you dream about meeting the ambassador of palau. >> and we put him in the show. >> yeah, we did. >> he's in the final episode. >> seth: not the actual ambassador. >> no. couldn't get him. >> seth: couldn't get him. >> couldn't get him. >> seth: he's so busy. he's doing broad city. [ laughter ] >> seth: gotcha, gotcha. >> i'm hoping that maybe tonight. >> seth: they always say do it in a movie a few times first to get the feel of it and then before you do it for the real thing. >> no, i mean i was going through a break-up, and i was sad, this was a few years ago, i was in bed, i was crying. i thought, all of this stuff is funny if i had perspective on it. you know? and i thought about all -- some of the red flags that i've seen with past boyfriends, i thought, i want to laugh at all my stupid mistakes. so i wrote the script, and i based some on some friends, and some on myself and some i made up, but i was just making myself laugh. and then it was kind of amazing that it actually became real, and we shot it and now it's a movie. >> seth: now, when you mentioned those red flags, you mentioned those exes, were there any exes that it was so clearly them that you had to call and say, "hey, heads up, someone -- hey greg, there is a craig in my movie and he's a lot like you." >> i hope it's not that clear. >> seth: oh, that's good. >> i'm hoping, yeah, yeah. >> seth: s

it's, you know. >> seth: gotcha. now we mentioned "boogie nights" a couple times. read an oral history of the film and one of the things -- i can't remember who said it, but they mentioned that when you were roller girl, at one point you just sort of rolled off the set and were just sort of rolling around van nuys, which is sort of a weird place to be on roller skates. is that true, did you do that? >> i did. i mean it's fun when you have roller skates on, you really just want to roll around. you know? >> seth: yeah. >> you know, you can just go so many places, so yeah, i rolled around. [ light laughter ] >> seth: gotcha, is it true you still have your -- roller skates from the film? >> i do, i do, i have them in a closet. actually, my friend had a dog and she named her dog dog just died which is really sad but she wanted to take a picture of me with dirk diggler >> seth: before it died? >> before the dog died, yeah.
