joan walsh is here in new york and jonathan allen joins us in washington. anyone steal your coat? >> no, i still have it on, fortunately. it's 18 outside. not 10 below, but 18. >> the trump police didn't work at the door? >> no, but you have to give the trump campaign a little leeway here. it's a 1,400 capacity theatre. they gave out 20,000 tickets and they quite honestly and quite obviously wanted their supporters in there. so when they were asking at the door if you are a bernie sanders supporter or some other supporter, they were turning you away because they were obviously trying to get their supporters through the door. they did release a statement saying there was 20,000 people they were trying to get in. they weren't going to bod bother with anyone who's undecided or someone who doesn't like donald trump. as you saw, though, that didn't quite work. what was most remarkable was when the protesters were being thrown out of that theatre, they walked out and came out to massive cheers from a crowd of hundreds outside, each doing their own little victory

let's bring back our panel, joan walsh, clarence page and matt wel welch. let's start with the primary. what obstacles are left for the clbt nomination? >> sadly, very, very, very knew. i'm afraid as much as i would like to see bernie sanders to give more of a fight for the sake of having an actual discussion and competitive contest i think he'll be the jerry brown of '92 here, just kind of more road kill. he'll push her to the left on economic issues, he already has and that's going to be enough to satisfy democrats i think as they start to contemplate what's happening on the republican side of the aisle. >> do you agree, joan? >> i'm close to agreeing but i still think it's close in iowa and he's ahead in new hampshire. if he beat her in iowa and quickly new hampshire that might recalibrate but he'll have a tough time in south carolina. ironically because that state was so tough for her and really did brand the campaign in 2008 after president clinton -- >> she lost iowa, won new hampshire and killed in south carolina politically. that was the black vote,

joining us now is joan walsh. i want you to take over on this. i think kristin welker said it to a t. when you start shooting the guns out the window someone is attacking. i love her coming on the show. she is making the rounds heavily and deploying her daughter in an aggressive role. not as my mother is great but nailing the other guy is unusual. >> i don't know that it is that unusual. it was going to tighten once people were paying attention in january. iowa is a great state for bernie sanders. it is heavily white, 90 something percent white. lots of college students. they can caucus this time around which they couldn't do easily for barack obama. they never expected this to be a cake walk. when her numbers went way high after vice president biden said he wasn't going to get in they thought that was a fluke. i don't see anything that weird about what they are doing. i think i love senator sanders. let's figure out how single payer would work. >> how do you attack a guy for being too left or too complicated? all i see is they are attacking but
