wis' meaghan norman joins us in the studio with more on this story. charles, the day before the shooting, sheriff lott says the suspect's parents filed a report saying they feared for their lives because their son threatened to kill them. saturday night, deputy christopher bagby responded to a domestic call on camrose court. the suspect was reportedly trying to kick in his parents' door. when bagby pulled up, sheriff lott says the suspect started shooting -- firing at least seven rounds. three of the bullets hit bagby's patrol car. the deputy has extensive law enforcement and military training. he said he could have returned fire but felt it would have further endangered nearby residents. he had a split second to make a decision.
