the same morning boeing reported we got the decent quarter from united statesed technologies where the company's two aerospace units accounted for roughly half of sales. united technologies didn't do anything flashy. le they reaffirmed the guidance that was a sight for sore eyes considering how they cut the outlook in 2015 and before hayes took control of the company. beyond that there were positive thing about the aerospace business talking about the best volume growth in five quarters. opposite of boeing. in fact, on a conference call hayes was practically gushing about the geared turbo fan or gtf. that's the newest, best commercial airplane engine ever. specifically the focus was meeting airbus's demand for the program and the company plans to deliver 200 engine this is year. again, most to airbus. in other words, united technologies made it clear they are getting bountiful orders in aerospace but coming from airbus. call it exhibit a for the prosecution's case that boeing's weakness is limited to boeing itself and not to the entire industry. exhibit b, remember alcoa, right? parts

we got a good quarter from united states technologies and the most outstanding portion of the quarter was none other than the engine business. i was astonished at how strong the division was. some of it may be because united technololoes has built a better mouse trtr called the gtf, the gear turbo fan and it is selling like hot cakes. after the forecast from boeing making it dramatically weaker not just weaker we have to believe airlines don't need as many planes. perhaps the leasing companies have been stopped from purchasing for some reason. maybe the chinese who have been the buyers of planes are rethininng it. maybe they are out of money to buy aircraft. perhaps the super freaking strong dollar has slowed world signalled when it called a peak in travel with the downgrade of price line. boeing announced the 737 would be curtataed and it was a hugege money maker and the dreamlinerer is still too costly to manufacture to replace the lost re new and they can't meet the demands of the smaller planes. perhaps the problem is more about boeing than we think. remember, boeing is uniquely a
