in august, the department of human services announced 4 healthcare compaines - amerigroup, ameri-health, united healthcare and wellcare would manage the programs. the d-h-s removed wellcare from the program in december, stating the company didn't disclose some information during the bidding pcess. the original dateor the full switch was the federal transition to march 1st, saying the state wasn't ready. the bill to stop the switch altogether shouldn't have trouble passing the iowa senate where democrats have control. but it could face trouble in the republican- controlled house. speaker linda upmeyer said she likely won't let the bill on the house floor, because governor branstad will veto. senator liz mathis says she hopes upmeyer will reconsider if republicans have a good show of support today and in the house.
