kcci's marcus mcintosh spoke with a few senators who are confident the bill now has the votes to pass. marcus: lawmakers again trying to pass a law allowing fireworks in iowa. -- the fireworks bill that passed a senate committee this week would allow for the purchase of fireworks from licensed dealers in the months december and only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to and 10:00 p.m. it is not a deal all senators are happy with. >> what i know about fireworks is all bad frankly. marcus: the veterans national recovery center says fireworks effect veterans with ptsd and wants senators to vote against the bill. senator matt mccoy agrees he is against fireworks but he wrote , an amendment to the bill that would allow cities and counties to opt in to any law legalizing the use of fireworks. meaning cities would have to give their ok before fireworks could be sold or used in their city limits. senators in favor of legalizing the use of fireworks says the amendment may not be necessary. >> we have been thoughtful , deliberate, and responsive the bill you saw action on yesterday is the sum total

kcci's marcus mcintosh just back from knoxville with the story. ronald and patricia henning henning lived in the home in rural knoxville. ronald was able to make it out safely patricia was not. , as a relative of the ronald and patricia hennings surveys the aftermath of sunday night's deadly fire, he is not alone. the henning's dog nips at his heels. he may be looking for answers. marion county sheriff jason sandholdt pieces together what happened. >> the husband was asleep, smelled smoke. he came out and then obviously ran to get help with neighbors. one of my deputies and one of my lieutenants were first on the scene. they had two fire extingusihers and they tried to enter the residence. the flames and smoke was too much. marcus: firefighter soon arrived were able to knock down the fire , and 77-year-old patricia , henning was found in the living room and pulled from the house. >> they started cpr on her, called for mutual aid. marcus: after cpr, patricia henning was transported to the hospital where she was authorities says weather conditions m

kcci's marcus mcintosh is in studio. marcus, what's the timeline here? marcus: steve, the chief wants this to happen by june. that means the department will have to purchase some 270 body cameras. cameras that will record the interaction between police and the public. the department's school resource officers have been equipped with body cameras for more than five years. the department tells kcci it is well on it way to the more than all uniformed officers. it is a combination of private donations and budgeted funds that will get the body cameras purchased and give officers on the street accountability. >> there has always been a lot of talk about transparency with law enforcement so this is going , to fill both of those requests. they want to know what we are doing, they want to know why we are doing it, and they want to know how we're doing it. this will help there. marcus: tonight at 6:00 we hear , from the public and whether or not they think body cameras on police should have the green light. steve: at the statehouse measures to address the growing
