i believe we have tom williams on the phone, he is here to talk about power outages. good morning, tom. tom: good morning, how are you? allyson: i'm doing good. you told us some of these are pretty severe and could take into the weekend. tom: we are hoping that is not the case but it could be the case. there are about 26 hundred individual outages across north and south carolina. a little over 3000 in greenville and spartanburg counties. across south carolina, about 9000 to 10,000 not end in north carolina, about 37,000. we have really knocked these outages down significantly. at the peak of the storm, it was overnight, we got about 50,000 outages back on so we will be hitting the ground running to get folks back on. allyson: reducing the wind yesterday was the major cause? tom: i think it is a combination of the wind in the wet ground. tremendous trees have been blown down in many neighborhoods, so those things typically take a while to clean it up and they do significant damage and they often take down a series of poles and it takes a while to get back up. also, a lo

because fentanyl is a powerful pain killer about 100 times more powerful than pure heroin. tom----when you talk to the users what's interesting is that they know it's dangerous. they know that if they use that product with the fentanyl in it that they could die from it. statistics from the hamilton county health department show that fentanyl was detected in more than 60 percent of the heroin overdoses in 2014 and 30 percent of the overdose deaths. this hamilton county map pinpoints just where those overdoses are happening which helps police crack down on the dealers. but angie staggie, whose daughter, katie, struggled with heroin for years says fentanyl is actually preferred by many addicts. angie-----the fentanyl makes a bigger high so they're going to want to use it because they're chasing that high. but there's a problem with how much fentanyl drug dealers are mixing with the heroin. someone buys heroin how much fentanyl is in there. and when someone overdoses with fentanyl laced heroin narcan may not always revive them. tom----narcan will stop the heroin overdose, but it do
