amanda lamb is live with more. >> reporter: she was a popular english teacher at wake forest high school. they announced to staff and students that she was involved in this fatal accident. and they have grief counselors on campus. it happened yesterday afternoon on capital boulevard south of wake forest. we are minivan was hit from behind by a truck. she hit a tractor-trailer which in turn hit a car. her vehicle was crushed between two trucks. the highway patrol is investigating the crash to see if charges will be filed. the driver of the truck that started the chain reaction is 29-year-old donald calder. he works in raleigh, and he a lot of charges, minor charges, related to driving issues and most of those have been dismissed in the past. >> amanda lamb reporting from wake forest, thanks. >>> a memorial service is planned today for four students mount. this is a follow-up to breaking news we had yesterday morning. the accident happened at the mount. administrators say the young women were returning to the dorm from dinner off compass and they got in a crash. 20-year-old candace mcbride

wral's amanda lamb is live at the wake county courthouse with the reason for the delay. amanda? >> reporter: you know, it seems break. today in court, the prosecutor, howard cummings, said anthony and keisha gorham were involved in a serious car accident and as a result cannot be here. he is listed in good condition, condition. this is the same family injured in that accident in 2013 at the state fair. they fell from the ride when the right operator admitted that he tampered with the wiring to bypass a certain safety measures. today, the operator was supposed to be sentenced after pleading guilty to three counts of assault, but the sentencing was delayed to allow the gorhams to recover and be there. >> the victims in this case were involved in an automobile accident on saturday night, both had to have surgery for the injuries that they received. i believe that they will make a full recovery. >> when i told them that they were not here today, they were speechless and cannot believe it. her thoughts and prayers go out to the families. >> reporter: again, that sentencing has been d

that was amanda lamb the raleigh police walks us through the officer's side of what happened. twiddy parked his cruiser here on mangum street after had a warrant out for his arrest. the west on bragg street on foot. then turned north on south east street. according to the report, denkins cut through two of the homes here. as officer twiddy continued chase, he slipped and fell on loose gravel recovered and caught up with denkins behind this home. that's where the struggle between officer twiddy and denkins happened. according to the report, denkins started to pull a handgun from the front of his waistband. the report says during the struggle, officer twiddy drew his weapon and fired move his gun in the officer's direction. fearing denkins was going to shoot him or take his gun, the report says twiddy fired additional shots. then, it says denkins collapsed and dropped his gun.. and twiddy called for assistance. according to a preliminary autopsy report released by the district attorney's office today - denkins was shot 4 times.. including once in his chest, with injuries to his

amanda lamb spoke with the live from the wake county justice center with what she has learned. >> reporter: that's right. in the minutes and the hours after something hike this, something tragic happens, there is a lot of emotion and sometimes, well, people get it wrong. and, of course, we're learning more tonight from that autopsy. we now know where denkins was shot and we also know how he died. in the moments after akiel denkins was killed by a raleigh police officer, multiinp people at the scene said he was shot seven times in the back. very different. >> there were a total of four gunshot wounds, one to the right chest area, one to the right forearm -- i'm sorry right upper arm, one to the right shoulder. >> reporter: the autopsy is just one piece of the puzzle. information in what is a larger investigation. >> reporter: community leaders say they can handle whatever the investigation reveals. >> so the autopsy results, the investigation being concluded, all of those things will high pressure us because we are all operating off of speculation and what we believe and what we think. but
