joining us live to discuss cnn politics, eric bradner. morning, eric bradner. >> good morning, john. it was an excellent night for the front-runners. donald trump and hntd both won seven states. donald trump started talking about being a unifier. he won in the north winning massachusetts, a state with working-class reagan democrats. he won in the south, the bible belt where social conservatives dominate picking up georgia, alabama, tennessee. he picked up arkansas and shattered virginia. ted cruz didn't see his southern strategy go to win. he did pick up his home state of texas with a bunch of delegates. marco rubio who's still waiting for the cavalry to come won his first race in minnesota. so don't expect either of those two to drop out any time soon. on the democratic side, hillary clinton really dominated the night by winning the six states across the south that have big minority populations and sort of continued her fire wall of sorts. she picked up as you see alabama, arkansas, georgia, massachusetts, tennessee, and texas. but the o

here to break it all down, eric bradner. good morning. >> good morning. they probably didn't knock out any of their top opponents. so trump show thad he's starting to put together a coalition. in massachusetts he won working-class reagan democrats. in the bible belt he won social conservatives picking up states like alabama, georgia, tennessee. he won in arkansas and vermont. and in virginia he shattered turnout records. so it was a big night for trump, but it was also a decent night for ted cruz who had been sort of losing a little bit of steam, losing a little bit of attention to marco rubio and rubio had attacked donald trump. cruz won three states. he won alaska, which we just found out. he won his home state of texas and he won oklahoma. rubio, meanwhile, is still waiting for this anti-trump cavalry to come. he won one state, minnesota, which is important because that's the first state he's won in the contest. so these three candidates are going to continue on. none of them is going to drop out, especially before march 15th when the winner take all s

joined by cnn political reporter eric bradner. eric, this is it.bate before the big voting on tuesday. florida, winner take all. ohio, winner take all. delegates at stage in illinois and missouri as well. these candidates may never been on the same stage again. >> these are winner take all states. that means dominos fall quickly. lots of delegates move in a way that has not happened so far. a lot of candidates are trying to recalibrate and figure out how to handle this evening. marco rubio especially is under pressure. he is here in miami. his hometown. he's under a ton of pressure to find some way to claw back into this before tuesday. if he doesn't win florida, he has no real path forward. the question is what he's going to do to try to reassert himself or regain the stature he may have lost after going hard after donald trump. trump, meanwhile, is clearly the frontrunner right now. he is predicting a softer tone. he always mixes it up on the debate stage. it will be fascinating. >> i think so, too. i was watching that interview with anderson coo

eric bradner, good to have you back.ald trump turned to a teleprompter at apec. because he knew he had to get that right. and now with the conversation with the "new york times" it seems to be maybe vacillating here? >> right. donald trump -- it was fascinating to see him use a teleprompter by the way. because he had spent a full year on the campaign trail bashing them. but he has the salesmen like quality to never quite commit to anything. walks up to the edge and then throws his hands up and says it doesn't matter. what trump is presenting is strength. this idea that he can lead via his credibility. by channelling his competency into good deal-making. even if he isn't really laying out the prompts of what those deals would be. this is a trickier subject than a lot of the issues. it is --. so yeah. he's trying to navigate choppy waters and he's taken some blowback but just like anything else, policy inconsistencies or refuses to get too specific doesn't hurt him. >> what these countries can off offer, you have seen him

cnn political reporter eric b d bradner joins us this morning. look forward to the races tomorrow. tomorrow is an important day for all of the candidates. the democrats, you have ohio, for example, where hillary clinton has a 20-point lead in ohio. some of the bernie sanders rhetoric about manufacturing and trade and his anti-globalization stance has resonated in the states where there are thousands of factories that closed over the past decade. look at illinois here. she has a much tighter margin. maybe 51% to 45%. what do you think will happen tomorrow? >> so it's tough to tell. the polls show in michigan hillary clinton was way ahead and she lost. it is a little bit difficult to say. we expect similar factors to be at play in midwest states. ohio, missouri and illinois. hillary clinton will certainly win florida and north carolina. bernie sanders has been hammering the message on trade. arguing that clinton has been either a supporter or a passive opponent of every major trade deal for the last 25 years or so dating back to nafta. that resonat
