with us this hour, steve weise, josh brown, pete najarian and rich pzena, chairman, ceo and coast cion. stocks moving lower this hour, led by energy names, higher lately as value has come back into favor over the past month. but is that truly the start of a longer lasting trend? that debate begins now. rich pzena, great to have you here. growth has crushed value over the last few years, as you know. is value back? >> it's hard to say whether it's back yet. i mean, it's been probably three weeks where the value has started to reassert itself. but after five years of underperformance of value versus growth, the spreads in valuation are at provocative levels. cheap stocks are as cheap as they get. expensive stocks are reasonably expensive. and that spread has widened to the point where in the past, if you -- tried to capitalize on it, you would have been really well-regarded. >> josh, year-to-date, value outperforming growth from the february 11th bottom, which, by the way, we mark the one-month anniversary of today. energy is up 12%, industrials up 10%. financials are up up 13%. is this

it's josh brown. i like all five of these names. would be, is the market unaware of any of the advantages that you cite? aren't we already paying premium multiples pretty much across the boa board for the motes and safety. and two, we know the fundamentals will probably hold up in a down turn. but will their multiples? >> well, i think if you look at the multiples they're all i think very reasonable, given the growth characteristics for each of the companies, not only the revenue growth or eps growth, but the return on invested capital. most of these are trading at or slightly above market multiples. and so we think that given the better characteristics they have relative to the s&p 500, you know, we think the multiples are very achievable. if you look at microsoft, it's trading at a slight premium to the s&p 500. a 2.8% dividend yield and in one of the most exciting segments we see now in terms of the cloud and cloud infrastructure. so i take your point that they are -- they're well-known. but i think they're also -- there's a lot

josh brown? two things that have been trading in tandem with one another? oil prices and whether they have bottomed or not? >> i'd say it's important. i'd say top three. china and the dollar are the top two. the real question on oil is not necessarily has it bottomed. what does the recovery look like? is it w shaped or a saw tooth which is very frustrating for a lot of people. is it l shaped where we layed down here in the 30s and never get the spike higher that so many producers need. we don't have the answer to that and i think that that's still the biggest question lingering. >> it is critical if you think that oil has stabilize if not bottomed. maybe you take some of the dividend cut questions off of the table maybe it's a cure for the ills in the high yield market as well. there's wide reaching ramifications of the answer to the question that we ask. >> yeah. stabilization is one of the keys not just with the energy markets and materials but with currency markets around the world. whether it's our dollar or the british pound or a zone currency like the
