[applause] marco rubio: the water. thank you so much. ♪ host: marco rubio in florida, one day less than a year from when he announced his campaign. tonight, dropping out. lot of themes that speech tonight, one that caught some people's attention on twitter. was early on, america is in a middle of a real political storm in which it is in this coming. guest: marco rubio had a rough campaign. he did outlast his onetime mentor jeb bush. after a strong third-place finish in iowa, he had a devastating debate in new hampshire where chris christie of being accused rubio a robot. up to memorized talking points. rubio ended up fifth in new hampshire. that was the beginning of the end, he has a decent showings but was nevere, able to catch fire. he tried to out trump trump at the debate, but can only be described as a childish move. the following debate, the last debate, was more congenial. at the same time, marco rubio is 45 years old,

not so much marco rubio. what does rubio do now?i want to quote my friend across the way here, dan jones, who said last week this could shape up to be good-bye rubio tuesday. and i think that's about right. i don't know how he continues in this race. he is not -- not only is he losing his home state, but he's getting nothing anywhere else. the only rationale for him to remain would be to be part of this kind of plot to deprive donald trump of the delegates he needs to get elected. but i would think that he would get out. and he might even get out tonight. >> if you're going to be part of a plot to stop trump, you have to pay for it. and i think if you're a funder, right now, of marco rubio, you have to be saying, i'm not going to throw more money away. now, there's a possibility that you could just withdraw sort of, you know, suspend your campaign if you wanted to play some games about not freeing up your delegates. but then again, to the voters, it looks like -- >> the other thing is, if you want to be part of the plot to stop trum

this could be marco rubio's last stand. if he loses his home state of florida next week, there will be deafening calls inside the party for marco rubio to get out of this race. a rubio adviser does tell me they think their internal polling tells them they'll still win next week. they're that optimistic. but it's also critical for john kasich to capture his home state of ohio. the latest polls do show kasich could indeed win ohio but if trump sweeps both of those states a top gop operative says get ready for trump steaks, trump wine to be on the menu at the republican national convention in cleveland later this summer. trump will be the nominee if he pulls off that kind of sweep on this biggest of all super tuesdays. >> should just point out -- >> the stakes, those kinds of stakes are just that high. >> and i want to point out the trump steaks are actually bush brothers steaks bought by trump and sold at mar-a-lago. they aren't actually things anybody else can buy. really could be something else to see tonight. plenty to tal

he wants marco rubio to lose so that marco rubio drops out as we expect might happen.past rallies, donald trump will go after marco rubio for what donald believes are flaws like he doesn't show up a lot for some of his votes. he calls him a lightweight and has other names for him. he talks about how in his words, he supports amnesty and talks about issues wherever he is. here in florida, he's going to hit that very hard. he'll boast about polls, of course, all of the polls putting him in the other candidates in florida he is ahead even over marco rubio by double digits and something important to think about is well, in florida, ted cruz is now said he's going to come in and campaign hard in florida. he's going to spend money on ads. he doesn't necessarily believe that he will win florida. he said as much yesterday but he wants to make sure that marco rubio will lose this state because ted cruz believes that if he can make it a two-man race, he can be more competitive against donald trump. this rally, this area, stadium holds about 10,000 people. donald trump thinks tha

marco rubio, that is the marco rubio playbook. the marco rubio playbook is give donors what they want. what do donors want? they want mass immigration that drives down wages. so mitt romney is coming in to pay back donors he blew a few hundred million dollars in 2012. deirdre: get back to the taxes because mitt romney through carried interest about 15 to 18% some of his investments. donald trump may be in the same kind of situation, we don't know yet. are you saying even if it comes out that he has paid 15 to 18% taxes on some of his income, when rest of america is paying between 30, 35%, it will not hurt donald trump? >> i'm saying that taxes had nothing to do with the reason why mitt romney failed to connect with working people. what i am saying is the way you connect with working people is by fighting against marco rubio, mitt romney dope nor class agenda by massive immigration a stealth tax on working class. i will say this, donald trump's tax plan cuts for everybody by especially the middle class to keep jobs and wealth here

those are going to be largely marco rubio voters. but whether it's enough to overcome the polls is a different question. >> all right. so certainly that electricity, at least in that section of the state, has to be good news for rubio. let me talk about the latest polling statewide for florida. it shows donald trump in the lead, followed by marco rubio. and then ted cruz. but just yesterday, we find out that cruz campaigning announcing it opened campaign offices across florida between now and march 15th. talk to me about the math and chess game. it doesn't look like cruz is going to win florida. so is cruz just being the spoiler for rubio? and if so, could that end up hurting cruz in the long run, because trump wins all 99 delegates here? >> well, i think after super tuesday, ted cruz showed clearly he's trying to establish himself as the anti trump. and if he can knock marco rubio out in florida, which we all know a must state win for him. marco rubio cannot afford to lose the state of florida and continue this presidential campaign.

to marco rubio's 28%. marco rubio because of this outcome has decided that he is ending his campaign for the white house. now on the democrat side, hillary clinton has been declared the winner in florida with 65% of the vote to bernie sanders 33%. from ohio, ohio governor john kasich has won his home state by defeating donald trump 44 to 36% and on the democratic side in ohio, the numbers here, hillary clinton has beat bernie sanders, 68% to 31%. so a big night for donald trump and hillary clinton as they have won their states and there are more votes coming in and both of those candidates are leading in north carolina, in missouri and in illinois. so the outcome of this race, the headline is marco rubio is out, donald trump is rolling alone as is hillary clinton. it will be interesting to see about the delegates that marco rubio had, he had 163 delegates, where are they going to donald trump, ted cruz or john kasich. we will have to see and if there is anymore pressure on john kasich to bow out. probably

a quinnipiac poll out shows trump trouncing marco rubio on tuesday's florida primary, trump with 45% of the likely vote to rubio's 22%. ted cruz and john kasich bringing up the rear. among likely women voter, the don woos them, 39% to rubio's 27%. among men, the poll has trump in a knockout, 50%, to rubio's 17. quinnipiac shows leadership motivating a third of those asked, 66% saying trump is the strong leader figure. hilary clinton continues to command a dominating lead over bernie sanders, up the win in michigan. the polls show hill hill with a 2- -- hilary clinton with a 2-1 lead in florida, 62% to sanders 32. marco rubio, in florida where some might invoke the axiom of lies, lies and statistics. a poll two days old, showed donald trump's lead over marco rubio dwindling, trump with just 38% to. a to a gaining rubio 38%. it has been famously said, that the only poll that counts is the one conducted on an election day. rubio and kasich remain confident, predicting they will win their home states of florida and ohio. now that quinnipiac poll released today, one of three dumped on the

the home state candidate, senator marco rubio, what do you know about the state of his campaign. >> it's not evening inside the arena, this is an atrium outside of the arena, the rubio campaign coming off so strong, with so much optimism, coming out of iowa, they spun a third place finish into a victory, and wanted to build some momentum after that, then came that stunning debate for marco rubio, since then they have tried to regain that momentum, and it just hasn't happened. they have spent the last several days, crisscrossing florida, his home state, essentially losing the state by double digits, he chose to run against his mentor, jeb bush. this was a situation where they felt the attack ads, $50 million in attack ads against marco rubio, they don't feel that his decision to attack donald trump played a role in this. right now they're expecting marco rubio to come to this stage and address his supporters, the big question now is will he suspend his campaign. it's hard to imagine after this stinging defeat, how he could go on, a lot of disappointment here at the rubio watch party. >> w

marco rubio, his campaign telling me that they really feel strongly that they may be able to pick up some momentum in kansas. i know right now that race is too close to call, but rubio's campaign cancelled two other events, one in kentucky and one in louisiana yesterday and added those two stops in kansas, so they hope that they can pick up some delegates there. as you mentioned, chris, what is all important right now is this march 15th primary in florida. this is an event -- this is a state where marco rubio has to win. his campaign is saying they will win. right after this event he heads to puerto rico tonight and then back to miami tomorrow. you can hear the crowd behind me chanting marco right now. there's some conflicted emotions within this crowd. some of them had previously supported jeb bush, but now they say they're turning their attention to marco rubio. when you hear over and over again in this crowd is that they need someone, anybody but donald trump. when we keep hearing from people from this crowd that one of the reasons they're so attracted to marco rubio is that idea o

marco rubio wins minnesota. in vermont we have not yet made a projection. 78% of the vote is in, donald trump is ahead, 32.3%, john kasich 30.8%, rubio in third place distantly 19.5%. you can see minnesota we projected for marco rubio. he's got 37.3%, 2% for cruise and 21% for donald trump. let's put up the democratic races that we're watching. in colorado right now cnn is watching very closely the colorado caucuses. there you see it right thereto, bernie sanders with 58.6%. hillary clinton 40.3%. only a third of votes are in in colorado. in massachusetts right now, there you see hillary clinton with 50.6%, bernie sanders with 48.2%. 94% of the vote is in. hillary clinton's got a lead of about 25,000 in massachusetts. we have not projected a winner yet. in minnesota, we have that right over here on the democratic side. bernie sanders with 58.7%, hillary clinton with 41.3%, you see what's happening in minnesota as well. the headline right now, though, is that senator marco rubio finally after all of these contests
