neil: i want to go to tempe, arizona, to peter barnes, get a sense of what's going on. >> reporter: theks right behind me waiting for two hours they've just told me, and the line's still going out, down the block, so this precinct is going to be open for a while longer. they will not send the results in from the voting here until the last person has voted. so it could be a while, as i reported before. i have confirmed with maricopa county officials part of the problem is in the last primary they had 200 precincts around the county that were open to voters to save money and because of the trend of more people voting early by mail, they cut that down to 60 places this time including this one, a recreation center in tempe. what they did not anticipate, according to a spokesperson for the recorder of elections, was the turnout. they did not expect the level of excitement, they did not expect all these candidates coming out here to the speak and to get all these voters ginned up. and between the cutbacks in the number of places and the excitement about this particular primary, we have these

peter barnes. which party is more jazzed? you can tell by who is showing up. >> that is right. let's take a look at voter turnout. the numbers are just striking. let's start with the democrats. way down versus 2008. massachusetts down 5%. virginia. georgia. tennessee down. oklahoma down 22%. let's look at the republican turnout. more than double in virginia. 35% in georgia. up 21% and oklahoma. so far, this cycle compared to 2008, 3 million more republicans , 3 million fewer democrats. analysts say, for the republican side, simply more candidates, more excitement, more energy. of course, donald trump getting a lot of folks excited. candidates come paying themselves to devote more money and time to getting them out. neil. neil: that democratic comparison was from 2008. i am sure you have argued. it is hard to compete with that. >> well, democrats are actually saying, two reporters, last month, the low turnout among democrats. we only have two candidates so far. the field has been narrowed to two. republicans, you know, have on

we've got an update from peter barns on this investigation involving a reporter at a trump event. d this is not going away. peter, what's the latest? >> yeah. that's right, neil, and this involves reporter michelle fields and her allegations that trump's campaign manager cory grabbed her and nearly knocked her over at the trump event on tuesday night after the michigan primary. we were right there in the room and actually michelle and donald trump and cory and all the security people actually walked by it about the time that this alleged assault occurred. but now we have a colleague of michelle fields actually saying -- have been some of the video here and calling into question a washington post reporter ben terrace's report that is the one -- who pointed the finger. terrace pointed the finger and now a fellow reporter calling this -- that account into question at this hour. so the whole thing is very confusing. and we're trying to keep up with it. neil: yeah, so let's say it was not, cory, a mistaken identity. did someone at the campaign rough her up? or manhandle or -- >> katrina
