let's get the latest on this debate, msnbc political reporter jane timm is here.nt late into the hours and i know that you were watching very closely in this debate. let's talk about how rough it got. i mean, even msnbc's chris matthews said it looked like bernie sanders' last stand. >> the math really gets hard if he cannot get out here. the sheer numbers you have to win in big states if you' berni sanders. the numbers look pretty tough for him so he needs to win here. i mean, he claims this is a home state as well as hillary clinton. so he needs to do well. it's just all there is. >> is that really hard for him? say hillary clinton becomes, you know, the nominee, right, he's going to have to stand up there at one point and say, she's the best bet for this country after saying all the things he said last night. >> you know, i'm not sure he will. but he doesn't seem to play by the same rules that all -- >> really? you don't see him standing up and saying -- >> he could -- i can see it happening but i can see him carefully endorsing her in a print statement. i mean

on the phone now i am joined by msnbc political reporter jane timm. good morning and happy friday.ol's day, but you're here, right, that is you? >> good morning. >> all right. we want to get to this. because this could be a serious issue today. the hacker group anonymous has warned it will launch a total war on donald trump today. is this a real threat or is it a sick april fool's joke? >> no, this is not an idle threat. they have already released some of donald trump's personal information, they have hacked his website and the like. anonymous likes april fool's i guess, but this is not, this is not a joke. we may see donald trump's website go down, they're famous for shutting websites down by overloading them or releasing information. this largely plays into donald trump's hands, this gives him another attacker to fight off and be a champion in the eyes of his supporters. the only thing that could be truly damaging to his brand is if they found some financial information that contradicted his own statements about his wealth. there's talk about if he's as rich as he says it is. and

. >>> joining me is kate martell for the hill and jane timm. good morning to you. kate, one of the leading stories on the "washington post" is that some gop elites aren't convinced by trump charm offensive. how is this road block going to work for trump. the 54 unbound delegates there. >> yes, exactly. it's the 54 unbound delegates that are the delegates to watch and probably the most important because if you look at a lot of the projections now, that includes pennsylvania, if he does well in pennsylvania, he's going to come out with the upper 1100 in the delegates. 54 come into play. even if he wins 40 of them he could squeak by the 1237 and could do well. i think that what's going to come down to is we're seeing the ground game in pennsylvania, not as looking as much at the popular vote. there are only 17 delegates. it's courting and trying to keep the unbound delegates. what's interesting is that even if they say they pledge for donald trump or ted cruz or john kasich now they can switch that. they can switch that all the way up to cleveland. that could have an

now if we look back at yesterday our own jane timm got to go behind the scenes with ben carson, who quite literally was in a back room, trying to make deals with these delegates to support donald trump. all of this coming to the has a lot of people feeling like this convex process is rather undemocratic. after ted cruz gave his keynote address here on the floor of north dakota at the convention center i went up to the senator and i asked him about that. take a look at this. senator, do you think unbound delegates are undemocratic? >> i think the people of north dakota are going to stand together, we're going to unite and we're going to win this nomination. >> but the people are not picking the nominee -- the people don't pick unbound delegates. >> that's going to be up to the people of north dakota. >> he says that's going to be up to the people of north dakota. but the reality is it's not up to the people of north dakota. in this convention hall there are only 1600 delegates. it's going to be up to them to vote on this slate that's been put to them essentially by party elites. this also
