cnn terrorism analyst paul cruickshank is me along with senior diplomatic editor nic robertson who's live from london. chief national correspondent jim sciutto and intelligence analyst bob baer. i'm going to begin with you, paul. you have been working your sources most of the morning. do they feel confident this belgian broadcaster may have the right information, that they have caught one of the most important people in the paris attacks? >> i just spoke to a senior belgian counterterrorism official. they tell me they are hopeful that one of the men they arrested earlier today is mohamed abrini, but they cannot say that yet with certainty. why can't they say that with certainty? because when you go in and make one of these arrests, somebody's name is not written on their forehead in terms of who you got and brought in to custody. they need to verify through fingerprint analysis, dna and other methods. we know something about this terror cell, the terror cell behind the brussels attacks. they have been using fake identities. they have been uses multiple aliases, disguises and they need

i want to bring in our justice correspondent, pamela brown and terrorism analyst paul cruickshank whatwe know about him? >> well, we know that he is a swedish radical. someone on the radar screen of terrorism. someone who traveled to syria, who posted pictures from syria with an isis flag behind him. the last known posting in january of we are told by a french source close to the investigation, that it is the same as osama krayem. they have established this individual came through the greek islands on september 20. other attackers including the stadium attackers came through the island posing as refugees a while later. and then osama krayem traveled through europe, through austria and went up to a refugee center in olm, germany. from a hotel nearby, he was picked up on the 3rd of october by salah abdeslam, who of course was arrested last month, shortly before the brussels attacks. this individual is believed to be operationally involved in the brussels attacks. these are two significant arrests, not just mohamed abrini but also osama krayem. they were the two most wanted men in europe.

our cnn terrorism analyst paul cruickshank is in new york.igation so far? >> we know from the picture that the police released of the man in the white coat at the airport with the large bag that was a bomb that didn't go off, he is still on the loose, whereabouts unknown. the day after the attack among european intelligence agencies, security agencies, a document was released that contained eight names of people who were wanted in connection with the attack. one of them traveled with abaaoud, the ringleader of the paris attack, he traveled to syria with him early 2014. now, he may be dead, so maybe there's one name on that list of eight that doesn't stand up. another name on that les of eight refers to an iraqi living in sweden. he was arrested and released because apparently he was wrongly name named, so on that document alone, we have to look at the names carefully. looking at the numbers more broadly, authorities are looking at people who were associated with a radical isis recruiter in brussels. they were tried in be absentia. they're on

i'm joined by paul cruickshank who spent time looking at this video. what stands out for you?> when the bombs go off, he walks very briskly out of the departure terminal and continues walking for quite a long time. and indeed, walks all the way back into the center of brussels, and back towards the commune of scarbeck in brussels where he set off, they understand, earlier that day from the bomb factory, picked up by a taxi driver who dropped three of the bombers off at the airport. one didn't die in the attack. he's at large. and they clearly released this cctv surveillance now, because they just do not know who he is and they want to identify him before he is potentially able to strike again. >> cctv, the closed circuit tv. at one point, he threw away his raincoat. and forensic experts, others, they really want to find that raincoat. what evidence potentially could it show? >> it could be a gold mine of clues. so you're looking at pocket, things like receipts or a taxi receipt or something like that, which could hone you in on the guy's identity, the guy's location, where he

i want to talk over this with cnn terrorism analyst paul cruickshank. , just to explain to our american viewers who may not be familiar, euro cup 2016 is a super bowl-like tournament. actually bigger, i pose because i you have so many venues over the course of weeks. does it make sense to you they would go after an event that size? >> i think clearly that's what they were planning to do, at least according to mohamed abrini, the so-called man in the hat captured on friday. we have learned he told investigators the cell, the cell that carried out the paris and brussels attacks were looking to attack euro 2016 in france. this is a tournament with 16 different nations. it's a huge tournament. short of the world cup and the olympics, this is the biggest thing out there. of course as you know, this would be striking rather hard at the european psyche, grabbing headlines around the world and this same cell launched three suicide bombings outside of the stade de france as par of the paris attacks. the first match in the euro championships on the tenth of june i

let's delve into all of this with paul cruickshank and former cia operative bob baer. paul, let me start with you. authorities say it's more than likely that mohammed abrini is the man with the hat seen in the security video released just yesterday. that man is obviously wanted for his involvement as the third bomber in the brussels attacks. does that seen credible to you that abrini would be both men? >> the investigators now are looking into that, whether he was the man you're seeing on the screen right now at the airport. they are investigating that. their wording in the press conference suggests they certainly suspect that is the case but need to do more information to make sure for sure, in their words to positively identify him at the airport. >> bob, that's why, obviously, officials released video and photographs, right? if abrini is the man in the videos and did have a role in the brussels attacks, this seems like an extraordinarily quick success. what did you make of that video? >> well, what i make of it is he was definitely involved in the paris attack the 30
