here. the fire spread quickly and went up to three alarms at one point. and firefighters ran into several issues according to the firefighters and witnesses on scene. they were telling us there was water pressure problems which made this a tough fight out here. there were also -- the main priority was making sure everybody in the building was safe. we heard from witnesses that there were several rescues, getting some of the people out of this building. i want to play some video of some of the witnesses who were out here describing what happened, including the girlfriend of one of the firefighters who was inside of this building fighting this. >> what is your reaction when you see something like this? >> i guess scared. and i get a shaking feeling and nervous. >> from where we were standing, you could really feel the heat. it was really building up. >> i saw the fire going up into the sky and the apartment complex was completely engulfed in flames. and it was -- you could feel the heat from back from the house behind us. the heat was just intense. >> reporter: and firefighters now ripping through some of the debris out here making sure there is no flames on the other si

police, it was a 17-year-old that stabbed 46-year-old dennis adams right on this street just behind us here. witnesses tell us he ran up the street, the 17-year-old, went to a neighbor's house where he told neighbors to call 911 because someone had stabbed his father. this all happened at around 8:00 last night on 3rd street. you can seeth at police are still out here, because they tell us this is a very active an ongoing investigation. around 8:00, dennis adams and the 17-year-old were fighting inside the home. it continued outside into the street, and that's when neighbors called adams suffering from multiple stab wounds. he was rushed to the hospital and later died. after the 17-year-old's story changed several times, they stopped scouring the area for a suspect and placed the teenager under arrest. we spoke with a neighbor whose family was home when this all happened. >> the guy screaming, stop, stop, to another guy. but she wasn't sure who the other guy was. but it looks like he was the suspect. or sounds like it. that's what police are saying. >> it's frightening, especially having ki

captain henry silva took us here to show us why his team has hope. 11 people have been rescued alive in this mangled mass, many pulled from this small hole where below they survived in a room pinned beneath tons of debris. silva remembers each man, woman and child saved, but is haunted by those he can't reach in time. i think of my wife and daughter, he says. those trapped here have families, too. more than 500 families are mourning the loss of loved ones. there is destruction and grief everywhere. cemeteries and funeral homes are full. they're running out of caskets. with 20,000 homeless, many are desperate for water, food and clothes. parents struggle to feed their children. this mother says, we've had no water today. we are the forgotten. where there is organized help by the government, the line stretches for miles, and there are hundreds, if not thousands waiting here. many say they haven't eaten or had clean water in days. among the tragedy, there is some triumph. pablo was buried alive in a hotel, missing after two days. his wife ordered his casket. then his rescue. helping oth
