news4's meagan fitzgerald is live in rockville tonight with this story. meagan? >> reporter: yeah, wendy. samuel ellis stood before a judge, as you mentioned. he took responsibility for the th also graduated from wootton high school behind us. he pled guilty to two charges of manslaughter with a motor vehicle. but as prosecutors put it, this wasn't a win for anybody. these are the images many in montgomery county won't forget, the results of drinking, speeding, and driving. police say 19-year-old samuel ellis was drunk on the night of june 25th after he and his friends left a party in north potomac. he lost control of his car wounding one passenger and killing calvin li and friend alexander murk. nearly ten months later, murk and ellis' family were in court when he took a plea bargain pleading guilty to two counts of manslaughter by a motor vehicle. >> this is very serious to us and there were no favors given or any kind of plea bargain, if you will, for this. it was a plea to the straight -- the top line charges. >> reporter: prosecutors say ellis was remorseful as he answered the judge

s pat collins has been talking with drivers. he is at the shopping center that's along annapolis road. pat? >> reporter: wendy, we're at 450 and the beltway. if you look behind me, you can see the beltway up there. the traffic that you see moving is the inner loop of the beltway as it comes across 450. loop here. that's being deverted at route 50 down the road. there were a number of vehicles involved in this accident. it's going to take them some time to work the scene here. now, let's take a look at what it was like a short time ago. traffic at a standstill as far as the eye could see. it was here for about an hour as emergency workers tried to make their way to the scene to help out that state trooper. many drivers were caught in the traffic jam. we talked to some of them. this is what they had to say. what was it like up there? >> it was awful. i mean, i was sitting on that beltway for almost an hour and a half, and now i have to get a cold drink. just dehydrated. >> reporter: pretty bad? >> pretty bad. >> it was a dead stop. i was doing i tried every back road i could possibly find. >> everything is bloc

news4's darcy spencer talked to police about what happened in the moments that led up to that crash. darcy? >> reporter: wendy, this is the crosswalk where this tragedy happened yesterday afternoon here on mcdaniel road. residents are telling me there's a major problem here with cars speeding through here. right now police are continuing their investigation to see what exactly led up to this crash, why did it happen? the driver didn't stop until after it happened. they're checking to see if she could have been distracted by her cell phone. the 10-year-old boy was crossing here on mcdaniel road in waldorf sunday afternoon. he was riding his bike in the crosswalk. he was with his mom and friends and he was wearing a helmet but police say a driver slammed into him. the fifth grader suffered head trauma wands a flown to children's hospital in critical condition. police say the crosswalk is clearly marked in the road and there are signs warning drivers to watch for pedestrians. police are trying to figure out until after she hit the little boy. there are no skid marks at the site of the crash. the driver did remai

s darcy spencer just talked to a witness. she lives in waldorf with what neighbors want done to make this area safer. darcy? >> reporter: wendy, every single person i interviewed for this story today tells me there is a major speeding problem here on mcdaniel road. this is the crosswalk where this littleoy bicycle yesterday afternoon. the driver slammed into him without even stopping. police are trying to figure out what happened, why she didn't see him. at 10-year-old boy, a fifth grader, was flown to children's hospital in critical condition after being hit on his bike in this crosswalk on mcdaniel road in waldorf sunday afternoon. he was with his mom and friends when it happened. even though he was wearing a helmet, he suffered life threatening head trauma. >> and i didn't see it actually happen but i heard it, and it was just deafening, and just brought some stuff back for me because my brother was hit by a drunk driver. >> reporter: there is no clear explanation for the crash. the driver did not stop until after she hit him. there are no skid marks. police are checking to see if this could be a case of distracted driving

wendy rieger. a big break in the search for a man who sexually assaulted a 77-year-old woman in her home in fairfax county. police arrested a county employee for this crime. news4's kristin wright is live in centreville where the attack happened. kristin? >> reporter: well, you now what? a lot of people at forest glen didn't want to talk about the sexual assault because is just that awful, but they did want to listen and hear about this arrest. malcolm hall is charged with sexually assaulting a 77-year-old woman. hall worked part time for the fairfax county park authority. he was a custodian at cub run rec center in chantilly. police arrested him when he got to work thursday, and he was fired pending the investigation into an awful crime. a crime that has people in forest glen at sully station in centreville upset. >> i didn't know that. i'm so sorry for that. >> reporter: it's a community for seniors and the disabled. police say hall walked right into the woman's home. the door was unlocked. this woman's elderly parents and special needs daughter lives here. >> it scares me. especially my daughter is handicapped. that's why i'm concerned. >> reporter: police say
