brad sherman and congressman paul tongco. >> what's going to happen when senator sanders takes the stager agenda and appeal to convention goers to come behind the candidate that can bring us to a victory that doesn't allow for a trump candidacy to be victorious. he is bringing us to that point. no denying campaigns are emotional creatures. take as while for emotion to evaporate. but what we have here, i think, is an acknowledgment that working families, great many of us in the middle income community are best served by a candidacy of hillary clinton and not by donald trump. >> congressman sherman, what's the role tonight, do you think, of senator elizabeth warren? is she -- i mean, any sort of role between helping to unify your party, i think? >> i think both sanders and warren can do a lot to unify this party. you have got to remember that while sanders has millions of voters around the country, the most angry 200 were out in front of this stadium. and the vast majority are already for hillary. they will certainly be ready for hillary if they can ever really imagine a trump presidency.

staff, i want to thank are gary adriana, sam, paul, my former staff, brad, and michelle from the committee for their help. publicly, i want to also thank those families who spoke up. many families came out of their pain, kathy of oklahoma, anthony hernandez of california, jennifer hoff of california. all talked about the suffering of their families. thousands of other families spoke up, but there are still millions who suffer silently in the shadows trying to deal with mental illness and a federal government that has failed them, states underfunded it. i appreciate the comments from my colleagues. indeed if we do not fund of the things we authorize in here, it's a far cry from what we need to do, but this bill comes a long way in reforming a system. but i ask my colleagues now, this is one of those moments to put aside any political differences. in the 40 years that i worked as a psychologist, i have never once asked any of my patients what party they belonged to. we were there to help them, and this is our opportunity to speak up for those who have no voice, as i said at the onset, the lo

so beginning with those themes i'm lucky enough to have brad woodhouse with me, cnn political director david chalian and commentators paul and scottie nell hughes. on trump, david chalian, in case people thought he would go away for the week, that's not happening. >> that wouldn't be his style. this has been a tradition that's fallen apart in the last several cycles of the other side not giving the full week clean. hillary clinton held a couple events last week at the beginning of the republican convention but i do think the line about bernie sanders that he gave up too soon, bernie sanders went all the way through the california primary. i don't know what else -- i don't know how he could have gotten out any later than he did after every vote was counted. maybe he means in these negotiations around the platform or what have you. as you know, donald trump is big ago big play for sanders supporters and that's mission critical for bernie sanders on the stage tonight because i think his mission as now a hillary clinton surrogate is to try to speak to his supporters and explain why donald trump should not be a viable option

brad: it's a mixed bag. some of them have, to try to deescalate situations instead of the police becoming part of the problem. the unfortunate thing about both minneapolis, or saint paul and the other shooting in louisiana is that you only have the video. in either one of those, if you had to judge both cases it doesn't look good for the police officer. but you don't have the other 85 or 90% to what went on. so to assess good shoot, we have to wait. on the surface it would look like maybe there could have been alternative ways to handle both situations. but again, it's hard to assess without being there. jonathan: we appreciate your insight. brad garrett, former f.b.i. agent. thank you. alison: thank you. police departments across the country reacting today to the shooting in dallas. michelle: including officers within the prince george's county police department where emotions are still very raw after the district iii station was the target of an attack as well. that resulted in the officer jacai colson's death. brad bell continues our coverage. brad: this is the district iii station that came under fire in march. yes, it is still very fresh, very raw. i want to show
