erie canal through new york state, the ohio and erie through the state of ohio, that would ultimately connect new york city, hudson river, erie canal, lake erie, ohio and erie canal, ohio river, mississippi, all the way to the gulf of mexico. in the early days of america, we didn't have a big federal government, so in terms of actually funding and implementing the ohio and erie canal depends on the states. fortunately, the state of new york had a champion there, fellow by the name of dewood clinton who became their canal commissioner and got the job done through the state of new york. then he rose to become the governor of the state of new york. ohio, facing a similar challenge in terms of funding, et cetera, on the verge of bankruptcy, the canal project was worth more than all the lands in ohio. how do you fund this thing? believe it or not, the state of new york backed the bonds. it was dewitt clinton who came to ohio for the ground breaking in the state of ohio. why? guess what. it made a lot of beneficial difference to the state of new york including the fact that new york city became the only port that could

orville are flying up to half an hour for long distances and figure eights above hudson prairie, just outside of dayton, ohio. so, the 03 flyer, as it's going to be called, is forgotten. and it sits in crates, it goes through a flood. and where all the crates have been soaked with water and mud. and then orville is starting to reassemble the airplane and put it on different displays through the 1920s. and in 1926, it goes to england where it's at the science museum. and during world war ii, it's actually stored west of london during the blitz, during the attacks on england. but it comes to 1948, when orville with great fanfare donates the wright flyer to the smithsonian institution, and it's been on public display, whether it's at the old arts and industries building in the classic tin shed that existed for many years, and with the opening of the national air and space museum in 1976, the wright flyer went on display. and in 2003 in the centennial of the wright brothers' first flight, this gallery was open to tell that story of the making of the first airplane, and with it, aeronautical engineering. what you

ohio. so tracking rain this morning for twinsburg just moving north and east out of the hudson area, so stark county already this morning, getting hit with a little bit of rain, you can down from euclid to lake county. these are heavy downpours, no lightning associated with those cells but even ashtabula to connoat they are slow moving systems, moving east 5 do 10 -- 5 to 10 miles per hour but cloudy skies and rain linger across the area. it's already starting to feed in slowly but surely, i know yesterday afternoon we were waiting quite a while be slow-moving cells here but mansfield, ashland, richland county, you are up next to see, again widespread rain. >>> we begin with chaos overnight in milwaukee. protests breaking out there after police shot and killed a 23-year-old black man after midnight. a protest then got out of hand with fires breaking out at several businesses. police say the man was killed, fled from officers during a it's not immediately clear if he pointed it at officers. as news of his death spread so did protests with more than 100 people gathering at the scene. >> you all
