the terminal in hoboken, new jersey. person was killed, more than 100 people injured when the first car went airborne and the roof of the station collapsed. cnn's brian todd is in hoboken for us. the investigation is now under way. what are you learning? >> reporter: wolf, tonight we can identify the deceased victim in this crash. she's 34-year-old fabiola decrune. officials say she was standing on the platform and killed by debris. key questions center around the event recorders. there's an event recorder in the controlling car in the front of the train and one in the locomotive in the back of the train. have they been able to pull those? those are key, wolf, because they measure speed, braking activity, throttle positions. that key information. a short time ago, the vice chairman of the ntsb spoke about that and whether they had been able to recover both of those recorders. >> we are going to be pulling that event recorder from the locomotive, which it is safe to do that. so once we do that, we'll have more information

chris o'connell is live in hoboken, new jersey torque night. chris? >> reporter: iain, lucy, federal investigators have arrived on scene here in hobok hoboken, new jersey, to try to begin to peace together what led up to this deadly train accident. one of the biggest clues they will get is an interview with that train engineer as you said that engineer released from the hospital tonight. >> extremely fortunate that i decided to go in to work earl daal. >> reporter: call it fate but if brendan mcclellan didn't leave for work a half hour early this morning, he would have been inside the hoax ken train station when the new jersey transit train 1614 crashed. >> it looked like something out of movie. you know, just all that kind of wreckage. you don't really think it's possible until it actually happens. >> reporter: the train from new york was pulling into the last stop at hoboken station about 8:45 but passengers say it didn't stop. the 100,000-pound train plowed through the bumper block going airborne crashing into the platform. >> the crash claimed the

new jersey, new jersey and manhattan, it resumed service at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. as for new jersey transit, there is limited service to the hoboken station obviously. but for the rest of the system it is operating. there will be buses for instance from different stations to the hoboken station. witnesses who saw what happened this morning describe a scene of chaos. take a listen. >> i ran out and i just looked to the right, looked to the right. i saw people laying down and metal all over the place. then i looked clearer, i saw the train in the wall. i said, oh, my god. i ran over to everybody and i tried to help people out of the train but a lot of jersey transit officials ran in and i just backed up. but the hardest part that hurts me when i went to run in i ended up stepping over a dead woman's body. reporter: liz, 108 people who were injured, a majority were taken to jersey city to the hospital there. 66 of them total. most of them had minor injuries. 43 have already been released. 23 others with critical injuries. 10 of them in the emergency room when the governor held their press conference. back to you, liz. liz: thank you,
