i'm linda loveland. >> and i'm gerald it happened about 5:30 this evening. adam owens talked to neighbors and officials about what happened. >> reporter: it's a terrible night on us 1. officials say they were called to the scene about 5:30. a young girl, a very young girl, was hit by a passing car. she was dead when they arrived on scene they say. a family friend says the father of the little girl recently purchased some toys for them to play with in the front yard. they were getting ready to do little girl, a 3-year-old little girl, the family friend says, darted into the roadway, and that was the moment she was hit. the family, as you might imagine, is absolutely devastated. >> it's a hard time. just pray for the family. >> reporter: how are you doing? >> yeah, we're just trying to help them get through. >> reporter: we're continuing to gather details, and as we do we'll pass them along to you. adam county. >> and look for updates to this story on the 11:00 news on wral, and our morning news. >>> >. new tonight the highway patrol is investigating an accide

i'm linda loveland. >> and i'm gerald owens. they say abdul razak ali artan he came to pakistan before leaving and living in the united states in 2014. he said his first year there, he was, quote, kind of scared, to pray in public. the officer has been identified as allen rohushko. they want to know if this was a terrorist attack. in all, 11 people were one of them critically. for overnight developments of this investigation, watch our morning news on wral news. >>> a serious crash shut down lanes for several hours tonight. the accident happened in the northbound lanes near star mountain drive around 6:00 tonight. a tractor trailer becoming stuck underneath. there were serious injuries but everyone is expected to survive. officers are still investigating what caused the crash. >>> a local community is considering its options after tonight princeville town leaders met with residents to discuss their plans moving forward. adam owens was there and joins us live from edgecombe county. adam? >> reporter: gerald, hurricane matthew was

thanks for joining us i'm linda loveland. >> >. i'm gerald owens. the keith scott was shot and killed by an officer back in september, and his death sparked protests across the country. we got the autopsy report today. story that people have many questions about, but the autopsy does at least give us a few more answers. scott was shot three times, once in the posterior chest, once in the abdomen, and once in the arm, and abrasions were reported by the medical examiner. a foxology report shows he was on sedatives and anticonsultants, but no al or cocaine was found in his system. the autopsy explains his cause of death, but at this point it's just a piece of the investigation. scott's wife has said she believes her husband was shot because of his race and that he was an armed -- and that he wasn't armed, but the police say scott was indeed armed. the investigation is on going, and the officer remains on paid leave while the investigation continues. >> a lot 6 of interest in the case. thank you. >>> a local teacher is on paid text messages she sent to
