over on the seacoast state police say they found more than 7 pounds of marijuana after stopping a car for speeding on interstate 95. 27-year-old nicholas leone of worcester, massachusetts, was arrested after troopers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from car. troopers say the drugs are worth about $21,000. more than people have died from 300 drug overdoses in new hampshire this year. and the state medical examiner's office says more than two thirds of those cases involve fentanyl. nearly 100 cases are still pending toxicology results. officials estimate the number of overdose deaths this year could end up near 500. catholic charities new hampshire is providing new resources to help families dealing with the drug crisis. the group is sending a team of addiction counselors across the state. the first presentations will be in epping, rochester, and manchester with plans for more , in the upper valley and north country. in advance of veteran's day, bishop brady high school in concord has revealed a lasting tribute to alumni who have served in the military. wmur's ray brewer was t

the bulk of those are off the shore, and even up across the seacoast, you are in the process of drying out for now but here comes round two, and a lot of this is going to target central and northern new england, we of this, the more rain you are going to see. we have low 50s down in the cape, as well, and look at the afternoon highs, we stay in the 50s with more rain to the north, and right around 60 in boston, and mid and upper 60's in a few spots south of the city. this frontal boundary separating the two air masses, and also going to have the next area of rainfall so don't look for too much. thereafter, we get that rain to move on we we are drying things out and we'll see partial clearing in the overnight hours, so rainfall pretty meager, a quarter of an inch. higher across central and northern new england, and then notice we're in the 40s tonight. gusty winds tomorrow. it is going to be breezy and cooler. notice the winds gusting over 2. even though we're brightening up it is a blustery day. winds settle down this weekend but it stays on the cool side. temperatures are close to 50

cherise: despite recent rainfall, a portion of the southern part of the state and the seacoast remain in an extreme drought. adam: and now one town is easing water restrictions. been in place in salem since early july, but up until thursday, the those restrictions will be less strict. the board of selectmen voted to loosen the restrictions on outdoor water use after they received several requests from residents who wanted to wash their cars, boats, or homes. town officials didn't want to do away with all of the restrictions since the extremely dry conditions are expected to continue into the new year, but they wanted to give residents a chance to prepare for winter. >> people would prefer to obey the law and the rules instead of violating them so i think this have to do and not be in violation. . siobhan: daytime outdoor water use in salem is only allowed on the remaining odd-numbered days in november, which after today, leaves tuesday. live in studio, siobhan lopez wmur news 9. cherise: right now, a man is the hind bars and i will let you manchester banks, and trying to rob another.

one of the seacoast races on thursday morning will be the dover turkey trot. its an 8:30 start on shaws lane by garrison elementary school. this is the final race in the dover race series, and benefits the garrison school pta. the second annual dash to the sea get underway at hampton academy at 8:30 a.m. it is organized by "think" -- teachers helping individuals, neighbors, and kids. they expect 300 runners, hopefully more. and the greater derry track club 5-k turkey trot is the oldest turkey trot in new hampshire. this is its 40th year and organizers are expecting more than 1200 runners. the race starts at 9:00 a.m. there are at least 15 turkey trots in new hampshire on thanksgiving, according to running in the usa. check those out. the massachusetts department of transportation is issuing an apology after a big mistake was as you can see the sign says cod cape rather than cape cod. [laughter] officials say the sign was put up on november 15 and was taken down yesterday. dartmouth police noticed the sign and posted this picture on facebook. they joked that th

and traffic to and from the seacoast on the spaulding turnpike is moving good. adam: despite recent rainfall, much of the state remains in a moderate to severe drought, and we're expected to enter the new year with extremely dry conditions. but right now one town is easing water restrictions. wmur's siobhan lopez joins us siobhan: salem is one of the few areas that remains in an extreme drought, but the town is easing their restrictions right before the start of winter. >> a lot of folks want to clean things up before the snow flies. siobhan: good news for salem residents who have been under water restrictions for months, for the next few days some day-time outdoor watering is allowed, giving them the chance to wash their cars, boats, or homes and get everything ready for winter. >> we thought for a week and a half or so we'd give folks a chance on odd numbered days to get that done before december hit. siobhan: the town gets the majority of their water from it in decades. since july the mandatory restrictions included no outdoor water use between 7am-midnight,

this is along long 128 moving northward through the new hampshire seacoast as well. notice that is where the snow is starting area -- starting. temperature is now in the 40's. it is not significantly cold but as we start to cool, that is when we have concerns for travel , some of us will get closer to freezing point as we move inland. wind is nice and calm. they are going to start to shift as we move into the forecast tomorrow. and onshore wind starts to kick store for us. things are relatively quiet for boston metro. shower start to spill in as we inch towards 8:00. it is that time frame this evening that we see the best chance of showers moving through the area. that sticks in place along the coast line. heading into the overnight rain is not looking heavy but it is spotty enough that we do see the potential for temperatures cooling that is prevalent moving west and north of 495. notice through new hampshire and maine we are seeing the snow falling. although it is not expected here monthly that could be colder moving through northern england. into tomorrow morning,

massachusetts up and down the seacoast to the cape. afternoon and tonight, winds will gust around 30 miles per hour. not going to do any damage and rainy day. 47 degrees right now in boston. no rain to report now. we have got a couple of thin spots in the clouds, but honestly clouds ruling from the get go and from 8 a.m. clouds and 49 degrees. by 10 a.m. i have our first steady rain starting to move in and will intensify by lunchtime and into the afternoon. look at the temperatures as well approximately hovering around 50 degrees all day long. very little if any warm-up. your town is you will be within 5 degrees of that. a coastal low pushing toward us. pushing in the rain. the closer it gets the heavier the rain gets. it futurecast to break it down, 10 a.m. light and patchy rain over much of massachusetts and sneaking into new hampshire. you will find it even more widespread by noontime and seeing the yellows and oranges on the map even more so as we incorporate heavy showers. the problem is evening commute and dinnertime tonight. tha

overnight, snow showers possible anywhere in the state away from the seacoast, including southern new hampshire. not expecting any accumulation from manchester down to nashua or salem. in the monadnock region or into cheshire county, sullivan county, grafton county, the higher elevations in these areas have already seeing light accumulation. that has prompted slower speed limits from new london to showing up on radar here. there is still snow flying and continuing. this low pressure system has slowly been moving off to the east. now we are under the influence of the northwesterly wind. the cold air coming down behind it. you can really see the lake-effect snow bands that have formed by syracuse, rochester. some of those places getting over one foot of snow the weekend before thanksgiving. temperatures are getting particularly on the western half of the state. 34 in plymouth. 38 in concord. overnight, we will have scattered snow showers continuing, especially in the higher elevations. really, it is possible anywhere across the state. tomorrow, the sun breaks through in southern new ham

and tonight we coastal flood advisories for main coast, the seacoast, and right on down to the south shore. minor coastal flooding is expected. and then tomorrow, high tide cycle is around noon. and should be lower than today. the water will be running high. and the same idea, minor coastal flooding in the most vulnerable areas. we have heavier downpours down around the south coast and around cape cod. and steadier heavier rainfall is starting to work across the south shore, and over route 3. duxbury included. and the heaviest is moving to marble head, beverly, manchester, catching up on lost time. and heavier rainfall all the way to manchester and across southern new hampshire. it's moving northward and when it's raining, it heavily. and it's dark. and it will be a slow go so be cautious. rain totals moving up. worcester over an inch and fitchburg shy of an inch. and we're running a rainfall deficit and this helps out. boston's rain deficit more than an inch and a half. so we gave back our gains from october. the showers ending in a couple of hours, and temperatures stay mild. upper
