wisn 12 news' tim elliott is following the latest developments. tim. tim: edgar maddison welch is accused of firing an assault rifle inside a washington dc restaurant. the restaurant is part of a bizarre conspiracy theory involving a child sex trafficking ring supposedly run this is a story that has no truth to it. welch is accused of traveling from north carolina to washington and then opening fire inside the restaurant. he was in court yesterday. prosecutors dropped local charges because of the new federal charges, which are much more serious. if welch is convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison. store for using coupons. this is surveillance video from the store in memphis. this is crazy. the woman told police she was paying for her groceries using coupons when the man behind her got frustrated. he said she was taking too long. he started yelling at her and then grabbed the back of her neck and slammed her head into the grocery cart. now police are looking for the man in this video. ben: new this morning, students and teachers at a californ

tim elliott is tracking the story for us. tim. tim: we learned overnight president obama did not sign the legislation that renews sanctions against iran. that was a surprise since he had supported the bill but congress had enough support to push the law through without the president's signature. iran's president had promised to respond if the sanctions were renewed. he claims they violate the terms of the nuclear deal but congress voted to extend the sanctions by another ten years. the sanctions against iran have been in place for decades. back to you. ben: new this morning, you may fred couch has been convicted of impersonating a police officer. he'll spend the next year on probation. back in 2014, couch told police that he was an officer at a department near fort worth. adrienne: a town in indiana is left scrambling when their entire police department resigns. officers in bunker hill all stepped down this week. they say the town council treated them unfairly and even asked them to do illegal things. the department was made up of

wisn 12 news' tim elliott is following the details. tim? tim: cosby is accused of drugging and then assaulting a woman in pennsylvania back in 2004. who have accused cosby of assault. those other allegations will be the focus of a court hearing today. a judge needs to decide if their testimonies should be allowed in this trial. 13 other women could testify depending on the judge's decision. this hearing is expected to last two days. cosby has pleaded not guilty and denies all of the accusations. the trial is set to begin in june. adrienne: new this morning, a police officer in texas is out by a driver. the crash was caught on camera last week. the officer was conducting a sobriety test by the side of the road when another driver hit him. the officer pushed his dui suspect out of the way potentially saving his life. that driver was not hurt although he was arrested for dui. >> his own safety was the least he was concerned for the welfare of the person he was dealing with. adrienne: his fellow officers are calling it a miracle that he survive

wisn 12 news' tim elliott is following the latest developments. tim? tim: edgar maddison welch is accused of firing an assault rifle inside a washington dc restaurant. the restaurant is part of a bizarre conspiracy theory by influential democrats. welch is accused of traveling from north carolina to washington and then opening fire inside the restaurant. he was in court yesterday. prosecutors dropped local charges because of the new federal charges, which are much more serious. if welch is convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison. adrienne: new this morning, a woman attacked at the grocery store for using on this is surveillance video from the store in memphis. the woman told police she was paying for her groceries using coupons when the man behind her got frustrated. he said she was taking too long. he started yelling at her and then grabbed the back of her neck and slammed her head into the grocery cart. now police are looking for the headlines. >> and in just a few minutes, we have much more on the extreme cold and the snow in the forecast

tim elliott joins us with how that process going so far. tim: wisn 12 news talked to the county clerk. she says things are running on schedule. they have more than 240,000 ballots to count there. they pre-test all their machin and those were reading ballots correctly. workers will be back at it at 8:00 this morning. they had just wrapped up for the day at midnight. it is up to each of the 72 counties whether they count the ballots by hand or machine. the deadline for finishing the recount is december 12th at 8:00 p.m. that is so the results can be handed in on the federal recount deadline december 13th. melinda. wisconsin. they are paying the entire cost of the process, $3.9 million. each night the recount results will be sent to the wisconsin elections commission. the commission will then post updates online of the results from around the state. those will be handed to the federal government on december 13th. the electoral college is scheduled to meet on december 19th to formally elect the next president. look for big story coverage of this
