let's bring in nbc meteorologist bill karins now. bill, from kansas to missouri, that strip of storms was just severe last night. >> yeah, and it's still going, but a lot of the damage has already been done. and this was a little bigger outbreak than what was expected. we thought we would have a few tornadoes. we didn't think we would have 29 tornado reports out there. all the red dots show you where the tornado reports were, started in kansas as we went through about the 4:00 to 5:00 hour. the kansas city area had a big scare. and then they rolled into areas of southern iowa and northern missouri. oak grove, the area that was hit the hat, this is oak grove, missouri. we havctures in. that's not much left. not sure if these were mobile homes or houses, we'll find out more information at daybreak. you can see the car flipped there and the roof removed from that home. 12 to 14 injuries reported in that storm that went through the oak grove area. so far, no fatalities, but with this many tornadoes that happened during the overnight hour

nbc meteorologist bill karins is tracking the storm for us. where is this storm, what can we expect? >> it's going to combine, two storms forming into one forming our nor easter and blizzard tomorrow. snow over illinois, snow over areas of indiana today, going to combine with this storm off the southeast coast, we'll send up with this massive snow over the next 48 hours. 1 to 3 inches over the ohio valley today. then the bigger stuff into the east. we're going to start doing the heavy snow later tonight and early tomorro this area of red, that's 18 inches of snow, interior sections of new england. notice the big cities are in the hard forecast line. that's where we're going to go from heavy snow and dealing with mixing issues, especially washington, d.c. we've lowered your totals a little bit. philadelphia, a steep gradient. south of philadelphia, a lot less. to the north, a lot more. new york city around 1 foot or so, it looks like. areas to the north of new york city could get 18 inches. hartford 12 to 18 for you. the mountains in all of new
