then my son, who is now run pping the stanton shop, and i painted the bookcases in a little store front in the fan district here. and we put all the books up on the bookcases and put a sign up and all of a sudden we were book dealers. that was in 1996 or 1997. so the been almost 20 years. black swan books is named after william byrd, who founded richmond. way back in the 1720's, i think. and he was a book collector. he was an interesting guy. he was sort of like a jeffersonian type. he went over to london and it turned -- he was a bit of a rascal. because not only was he interested in buying books and london, which he did, and he send -- in london, which he did, and he sent them back to virginia, but he was also very interesting d in women -- interested in women. not only did he pick up books, he picked up women and one of them referred to him as the black swan. it seems like that was a cool name for a rare book shop in the city of richmond. i go out all the time. really, i feel like sometimes i don't have time to catalog my inventory because i'm busy going out and buying more of it. bu
