[applause] our next honoree is fatdi tabbet of yemen. a child protection officer and reporter on human rights violations in southern yemen during the recent conflicts, faddia risked her life to protect the region's children from al qaeda and houthi militia. her acts of courage dissuaded young boys from joining terrorist groups and militias. yemeni sed the al qaeda branch as a recruiter of child soldiers as well as documented human rights violations by other armed groups for the united nations. she is being honored for putting her own life at risk to protect children from being recruited by terrorist groups and militias and her bravery in exposing the human rights violations and crimes committed by various armed groups. faddia. he taught them perseverance. they practiced very hard and of those 35 new recruits, when they actually start their barn storm tour, there were 16 girls left. they all boarded a bus and this bus was a crank start, ancient greek start bus. ancient must have been mid- 20s? it didn't have heat either and it was always needing a push. one of their players was a mechanic and she would drive the bus and bring her wrenches along and prepare the bus along the way. they drove through and played games in texas and arkansas and louisiana throughout the christmas break. barnstorming, plain forecast, but, but along for way they start winning games and it was unexpected, this little church school suddenly had a winning basketball team. they were playing desperate when they got noticed they were playing the houston green doubles. they played a doubleheader and after they won and the second game, sam took them to galveston and they swim in the ocean for the first time. it was quite a growing up experience for these girls. this wa

well, i think one thing is perseverance.tough at the beginning of the 90s, for me and every one else, the problem with me was i was getting all the publicity. the great depression, you called it? i called it the great depression in the early 90s, because we were really in a real estate depression. and it was real estate in retailing and airlines, and various other businesses, they were in a total depression. they went into recession. and i survived, and most people did not survive. a lot of my friends, a lot of good people and that people had go bankrupt. and you never heard from them again. and you probably never will hear from them again. but you know, i survived to a point where the company is much bigger now than it ever was, and much stronger, financially, then it ever was. —— than. but in the early 90s, you face the possibility of losing a reading. in fact, on paper, you had lost that much of it in. —— in fact, on paper, you had lost pretty much everything. i faced the possibility of losing everything. i went back to w

so you need perseverance. you need to be creative. even some of his closest friend is worth telling him this is never going to work. you should give it up it isn't going to happen but he was tenacious and persevered and held onto his dream. so perseverance, this whole tenacity, great innovation to make all of this happen. it came together in this really magical moment as some of you when i was signing books you were telling me stories of flying out to see one of these flights in the mojave desert where history was made by this small team. small teams can do remarkable things. so, all of this comes together for this moment in history. you have this team of 30 or so people who have built the world's first private spaceship and the replica is right above us. it is a really incredible thing that again just embodies the best of the human spirit, bravery, innovation, tenacity and scale at all different levels and i was so happy and honored that i got to tell this story, that i get to talk about this story, this amazing story is now a great
