erica: this case is united states vs.z and the case involves a turkish citizen named mr. kolsuz who was arrested at dulles international airport in virginia where he was set to fly back to istanbul. customs and border patrol agents found handgun parts in his checked luggage. during that arrest, the customs and border patrol agents actually seized his cell phone and, at that point, they initiated a month-long forensic search of all the data on his cell phone and it ultimately generated a nearly 900-page report detailing all of his text messages, his phone call logs, and his gps coordinates for the past couple years. sharyl: so, what is your objection if he was trying to move gun parts in his luggage unlawfully, isn't it a good thing that we caught him? erica: mr. kolsuz should have definitely been arrested for trying to export those gun parts. the focus of cause for action in this case is the actual search of his cell phone that was performed incident to that arrest. sharyl: whats argument for why it had a right to do that

erica mandy with cbs l.a. is live there with the latest. >> reporter: that's right, michelle, police say seven people shot, one of those victims a woman, has died. it all happened just around the corner of this apartment complex in the pool area during a pool party, during a birthday party as well. i spoke with a witness who took some video on his cell phone and posted it to snapchat. take a look. he remembers seeing the gunman looking very relaxed with a gun on his lap after opening fire causing several people to be lying there on the pool deck. others were running and screaming absolute chaos. police soon arrived and say they saw the shooter reloading his large caliber handgun. officers did eventually take him out there on scene. that suspect now dead here on scene. but not before he shot four women and three men. here's another witness's take on that chilling and terrifying situation yesterday evening. >> from our clubhouse we could see the pool area where the suspect was sitting drinking a beer in one hand with his gun out in the other.

it was in the rolling book shelves of the university's library that erica was carrying out some researchand made her extraordinary discovery. this is the box i found it in and here it is. it is a page of medieval latin printed by william caxton in 11177, just a year or so after the first ever british book came off the printing press. what was your reaction when you realised what this document was? i was absolutely amazed. this is the sort of thing that you hope you will find one day in your career as a librarian. so it was an extraordinary moment to realise we have this early caxton. william caxton was a merchant who was the first to bring printing to britain in 1476. this newly discovered page is a kind of instruction manual for priests. it lay hidden in reading university for 20 years and had previously been pasted to another book to strengthen its spine. book collectors go crazy for caxton and if this ever came on the market i would have an estimate of £20,000, £50,000, expecting it to do better. up to perhaps £100,000. this is the kind of printing press that caxton used to create the
