so today we are going to be looking at the california indian library collection. it's part of our local history collection which is called the box collection which is named after may boggs and it's a really important piece of the history collection. so the indian collection began at uc berkeley at the library and then decided to disburse the collection out by the state to 20 different libraries and so what happened the collection was divided based geographically so what we got here in shasta was the information on the native americans from our particular area. so particularly we focused on the winto. we also did the yanas because they are kind of the outlying tribes. one of the reasons this is such an important collection because -- it's because it consists of items that may not have actually ever been published. a lot of it is original research material. so it's a very unique, it's not information that is easily accessible. here at the library any member, any member of the poetic -- any one can come in and use the collection. it does not check out of the building

today we will be looking at the california indian library collection. it's part of our local history collection. it is a really important piece of the local history collection. so the library collection begin at uc berkeley. it was then decided to disperse the collection out by the state to 20 different libraries and what happened was the collection was divided up geographically. what we got here in chester county was the information on the native americans from our particular area. they are kind of the outline tribes. another reason this is such an important collection is because the consistent items had may have never been published. it's very unique. as the information that is easily accessible. here at the library any member of the public could come and use the collection. it is not check out of the building. we are open to making photocopies because this is a one-of-a-kind item. were going to see i just highlighted some of my favorite things out of the collections and items that give you a good sample of the different types of materials that are in
