. >> reporter: we spoke to the family and friends of the homicide victim, howard white a disabled military vet who went back to work as a private contractor he was back for a month and a half when this happened. this is an extensive crime scene they need here for hours. this happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. his family said howard noticed a man casing a nearby bar, he it was trying to defuse the situation telling him to walk away. he was shot twice. officers on patrol herd gunshots police responded. they saw white on the street citizen suspect flee. the victim's friend who has a permit to carry chased the suspect. he complied with police to drop his weapons.
