i know so many sununus i know all of you. >> never too many sununus, joe >> there can't be too many it'slarly, i think, timely that we had governor hutchinson on earlier, and even this meeting, given the backdrop of what we're trying to do with health care, governor, and i will say that, you know, the separation between the federal government, and state governments, is like maybe the biggest issue here with the whole medicaid issue what rt we going to do how do we do this? >> well, i got to give the trump administration and congress a lot of credit. they have reached out to governors. they have asked us as the implementers of their platform legislation what we want to see, how it's going to impact our states, so that's a great first step i think that's a big departure from the previous administration i've been pretty outspoken in the last version of the senate bill it just wasn't practical for new hampshire. you know, when you're looking at 1.5 billion of costs to my state in particular over the next ten years. we don't have sales tax. we don't have income tax that's just not practical.

i spoke with the state's republican governor, christopher sununu, a short time ago.rted by asking him why he does not support the current republican senate proposal. well, i think it's important to start off by understanding obamacare has failed, it is not sustainable, it is not affordable. specifically here in new hampshire, the healthcare exchange is really on the brink. we're looking upwards 40% cost increases to individuals. that's not affordable to anyone. i applaud the senate and the trump administration's efforts to take obamacare as a reform, that has to happen. that said, they're conflating two issues, looking at traditional medicaid entitlement reform which has to be a discussion in congress and obamacare reform. they're puppetting the two together. that's the end result. the cost implications are drastic to the state of new hampshire. 1.5 billion at best over the next ten years. that's not just a challenge for us, it's not practical. we have no sales tax, we have no income tax. we don't have the taxes to raise, nor would we want to like other states do. so

republican chris sununu of new hampshire spoke about the options for recovery programs.ere is what he had to say. [video clip] >> we are finding so many folks out there want to enter the workforce going through recovery in treatment. last year i had about 700 employees. we dealt with this all the time. we were in the north country of new hampshire where we did not have all the resources of southern new hampshire. we had to design our own systems where we were training our hr staff where employees would feel comfortable coming to talk to us knowing they had an issue, knowing we would not just fire them. something that occurred to me when i became governor was to create a recovery friendly workforce for employers. we are training hr staff, making sure employers know what resources are available. you go to a guy who owns a diner, and he says i knew so-and-so had an issue, and eventually he told me he was addicted to fence in all, and i had to let him go -- addicted to fentynal, and i had to let him go. that was bad for both of them. it is encouraging folks to come out of th
