seven people in sonoma county, two and napa county and one in mendocino county. fires have burned more than 107,000 acres, at least 1500 homes and buildings have been destroyed. more than 20,000 people remain under mandatory evacuation orders. katie is live in santa rosa were more people were evacuated overnight. >> reporter: this is the latest area to be evacuated. this is the oakmont neighborhood. behind me you can see why there was an evacuation. there is a wildfire burning down the hill from annandale state park. firefighters are just now getting an idea of what they are dealing with. what you're seeing is a very slow moving wildfire for a number of reasons. the winds have died down. everything is much calmer now than it was yesterday. the embers are not being spread by the winds. the other thing firefighters have working in their favor is that the fire is called a backing fire, that means it is heading downhill and slows down forward progression. firefighters say in a normal situation, they would be out here with hand tools putting a line around this fire, b

half of napa county. i am here to address the issue of the tubbs fire which started in the area outside of calistoga, went to sonoma and then a flare up resulting in the mandatory evacuation of the entire city of calistoga early wednesday morning. the tubbs fire is over 35,000 acres burned. the good news is that it is 10% contain which is an improvement. cal fire and all the resources are coming from all over and doing a great job at keeping the fire away from the city of calistoga. it is not a sure thing but they are doing a great job, and they are feeling positive about the effort. that being said, the city of calistoga, the surrounding unincorporated area is under mandatory evacuation. we ask that people not go there. there are a few residents remaining and we are asking that they leave the city so that the law enforcement, safety personnel and firefighters can do their job. for the calistoga inns evacuated -- calistogans the shelters are the napa college and the american canyon high school at 3000 new

a lot of people cannot get into marin county or sonoma county.r eastbound 37 is opened but officials do not recommend that you drive in the area unless you have to. southbound 11 is open from rohnert park very slow traffic. a closure on highway 101 between mark west springs and steele lane. sonoma county transit buses are not running and neither is the smart train. the smart train service may start up this afternoon but they will reevaluate after the morning. you can see we have a lot of closures on highway 12, highway 129 and silverado trail. we have a lot of fires in the area. the commute for this morning in marin county is ordinary on 101 as people are going through the smoke. on 80 westbound we have people on this freeway so people are coming to the richmond bridge. highway 24 is busy through lafayette and when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza we have an ordinary backup at 10 to 15 minutes and in the south bay traffic has been a little bit light. let's get back to the desk. >>> we had been talking with people who have left their homes, le

the governor has declared a state of emergency for napa county and sonoma county as well as yuba county because of the fire's. in napa county there are three major fires going that is the atlas peak between 8000 and 12,000 acres. the largest at 35,000 acres which is in sonoma county. at this time they do not have any containment on these fires. these are all separate fires, atlas peak started first but they believe that had burned on its own and something ignited the other fires. >> did today confirm any number of injuries or the human toll? >> no, they believe there will be some injuries but currently they do not have any number of evacuees and they don't have any reports of injuries that they could tell us. the fires are currently under investigation but at this time there is no confirmation on fatalities or injuries but paul -- there were some areas that they could not get to around atlas peak. they did have a couple of helicopter rescues and it is hard with the visibility because it is so hazy. they said there were some heroic deeds completed to rescue people. >> so those were done

mendocino lake county complex fire. they sent out these photos yesterday afternoon. firefighters from oakland and santa clara have been sent to help. >>> in lake county people to live in middletown are being advised to evacuate. the fire is burning towards their community. it could be in serious danger if the wind shifts today. the sheriff said the order is not mandatory at this point. if people do not want to leave now, they should have a bag ready with everything they need to take with them and be ready to get out on a moments notice. make sure the gas tank is full. >>> the smoky skies are causing problems as far south as san francisco international airport. sfo put it ground delay program and effect yesterday, limiting the planes that could take off or land every hour. that gave pilots more space on the runways. airport officials say that meant more flights were delayed by an hour or more. 80 flights ended up being canceled. the smoke did not affect flights in minetta san jose or oakland international. the faa has no

, lake county, nevada county, and orange county also has a fire there between 2000 or 3000 acres in the anaheim hills. this is happening near disneyland. we have a number of additional counties which will be able to qualify for emergency help from the state in terms of crews and resources add -- as they are needed. major fires and the resources for them are stretched thin.>> we have been talking about the fires all over california. the other big fire in wide country -- wine country is in napa county, this is being called the atlas fire. two people are confirmed dead as a result of this fire more than 25,000 acres. last check it was not contained, you have this huge fire and then further west you have a huge fire around santa rosa. this is burning right around the silverado country club where the pga hosted a tournament, the safeway open just wrapped up last night and a few hours later a fire engulfed the area around the silverado golf course burning part of the grandstands. several homes are gone in that area, i million-dollar homes. that is an area of extreme concern right now as well.
