these are schools not just in the northbay. here is the list, schools in the genus, antioch, pittsburgh, mount diablo, west contra costa districts will be closed tomorrow. officials in those districts say they will monitor districts -- conditions trial to determine if they will extend the closure. schools in the fairfield and vacaville districts will be closed tomorrow and on friday. and the alejo unified school districts, classes are canceled until next tuesday. diablo valley, los modano's, contra costa community colleges will be closed tomorrow. classes at sonoma state university, cal state university maritime academy, canceled through sunday. if you did not hear your school district listed, check with officials in your community to be sure. again the school closures are due to poor air quality around the bay area because of the fire.>>> more than 50,000 customers tonight without power. pg&e says they are working on getting the power back on. with just got new eve -- information about a evacuation advisory for the northeast s

and the people that live in northbay. the red flag warning taking effect for the area in about an hour. jesse gary is in napa where a community meeting waft up a short time ago. for those affected by the fire. he is live just west of downtown. jesse, what are some of the concerns brought up at the meeting ?>> reporter: officials in napa are advising residents on the east side of town to prepare for evacuation. this is just a precaution. nobody wants to be caught flat footed if the winds start blowing flames two areas that were previously unaffected. let's take a look at the video. fire officials are also concerned about several fire lines that are burning on the west side of the city. we followed a fire strike team from lake county as it made its way up lake feeder road. there, they found earned brush, vineyards and flames smoke moving slightly down the hillside. residents living closer to the bottom are worried that the flames could make their way all the way to the bottom and take their homes. city and police fire offic

we are looking at northbay locations in the mid 70s to low 80s.do have a nice evening underway, and mostly clear skies. this will remain the case for the next couple of days. the storm track as well to the north at this point, and it looks like we will be dry for the next several days. washington and oregon will not even pick up on any of the moisture at this point. the winds is generally light out there, but we do have that flow coming in from the north and the northeast. it is that dry and warm breeze that will continue to make our temperatures go up. as we get into the overnight hours, are winds will turn more to the west. for your afternoon tomorrow, it will be just as warm today, and maybe even a little bit hotter. we could get into the mid to upper 80s in many locations. some locations may even see the low 90s like santa rosa. temperatures tomorrow morning will be in the low 50s in santa rosa to the low 60s in san francisco. then in the afternoon, we are back again with mid 80s and low 90s for the northbay valley locations. low 90s for antio

we had blue skies for much of the bay area but not in the northbay. the winds peaked early this afternoon, they moved slowly. the humidity will plummet as well. that is not good news. red flags have been extended as a result. the temperatures will also climb tomorrow into the 80s on sunday. the good news is that there is at least a chance, however small, showers returning and a firefighter could not hear better news than that. the problem is we have to wait until late wednesday or thursday to see if it develops. i will have the complete forecast in a few moments. >>> here's a better look at were some of the biggest fires are burning right now. 170,000 acres burned. in sonoma county, the pocket fire burning in the community of geyserville is nearly 11,000 acres and 5% contained. the tubbs fire has scorched more than 35,000 acres and is 44% contained. other news on the atlas fire in napa county. is staying within its perimeter and is 45% contained. >> that's the first fire we heard about six days ago. and it's a goat sonoma county raised the death toll

( marty @ landing) we are learning more about some of the people killed in the northbay4's maureen kelly reports that a couple who recently celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary died in their santa rosa it's really hard because i just saw him at church and it's just hard to imagine that we won't see him again.members of the resurrection catholic church in santa rosa say leroy and donna halbur were pillars of their communtiy.both were 80 years old, married fifty years and the parents of two sons and had two grandchildren. leroy helped found the sonoma county branch of the catholic charity st. vinicent de paul. he would give you the shirt off his back.a midwesterner with a dry sense of humor, leroy also volunteered as an usher at the church and would always help out during their big festival.he would be out there with the best of them putting up tables and structures, if you needed him he was there and he did it with a smile on his face.those who knew donna halbur say her health had been failing in recent years. she's described as being very creative, welcoming and

. >> police of the northbay shot and killed a suspected prowler early saturday morning officers were called to a neighborhood in the city of cloverdale just off highway 101. the caller reported someone was sneaking around the backyard and had some kind of weapon. police say they suspect came at the officers showing the weapon. police shot the person who later died at a hospital. investigators are not releasing information about the suspect or the weapon. anyone with information about the case is asked to call petaluma police because that's the department handling the investigation.'s >> livermore police are expected to update us later today on a shooting involving one of the officers that happened late saturday night. that happened near the residence in on airway boulevard. an officer on patrol noticed what was described as a suspicious vehicle with a woman sitting inside. it turned out the car was stolen on thursday. police were called to the scene. the woman refused to get out and then started the car and drove into two patrol cars. one officer shot the woman who was taken to the h

(estacio - reporting)this search for the dead is not easy.. search and rescue teams look behind charred bbq's, melted washer and dryers, and garden ponds now full of ash they spread out and slowly and methodically inch their way through each burned down home. it is very slow going and tough work. rob giordano, sonoma county sheriff. these are volunteers, it is really something, not paid to do this. i talked with sonoma county's sheriff wednesday about how they are trying to do all they can to find missing loved ones. giordano. we know it is important we are going as fast as we canwhile thre are 250 search and rescue members out here from agencies all over the bay area think of about this fact they are faced with going over nearly 102 thousand acres that burned that is slightly more than 3 times the size of san francisco. besides the grim nature of their work it is physically challenging as well all team members must wear layers of
