today we're doing it from these amazing offices of warby parker here in "new york times." today we have neil blumenthal, the founder of warby parker, now with 1300 employees and a valuation of more than a billion dollars. and j.ana rich, founder of the talent group to recruit top talent. so good to see you. n thank you somp for inviting us here. i want to talk to you about retention. you have 1300 employees here. i imagine you've had some turnover over the years. is retention what we should be looking for as owners of companies, as people who run divisions of companies? what do you think? >> i think it's really important to assess who you are losing and where your company is in terms of phase of growth. very fast-growing companies who are morphing and changes dramatically are going to need different people. so i think we have to be careful retaining the people we want to and not losing those that we don't. >> people are always saying, you want high retention. right? it has been the mantra since the beginning of time of business. and i imagine the people -- you don't have y

warby parker and rent the runway are said to be watching the situation closely. >>> the parks servicedropping a decade-long fight to restrict dogs in the golden gate national recreation area. the decision comes a s after a lawsuit filed by dog owners uncovered irregularities in the decisionmaking process. proposed rules would have required dogs to be on a leash in marin, san francisco and san mateo counties. park officials wanted to protect native plants and wildlife but opponents lobbied successfully for their dogs to run off leash. >>> three san francisco schools have on track to become city recognized landmarks. abc 7 news was at george washington high school in the outer richmond which along with roosevelt middle school and the former sunshine school are all eligible for that designation. george washington high features a mural depicting the former presidents' life but it's controversial for its depiction of slaves and native americans. that mural is a big reason it is being considered for landmark status. 1970s, several response murals were painted inside the school showing the a

you lease stores, you own stores, and you face online competition like from warby parker so how are youthat >> i think it's interesting, many of the online players that came out loud and proud about being online eye glass sale people realize that people want to shop in stores. so warby parker has started opening lots of stores in order to serve that need as well they have 70 stores and we have over 1,000 stores. and our customer is just looking for the best deal available. looking to save money on this expensive necessity. >> you lease space from walmart and that makes up about 13% of your revenue while that's a great business, some people have said that makes you reliant on them. what can you do with the ipo money? >> the ipo money is mostly to pay down debt, but we're going to continue to bang out america's best stores and bang out eyeglass world stores, because america wants to save money on glasses and contacts. and we're going to continue to be the best partner walmart ever had. >> reid, i want to thank you very much for joining us today >> thank you >> good luck at the opening bel
