denise,s if a devastating day for chester county democrats tonight. they are saying that adam swope is a hero among organizersers and activists. service was clearly his calling. he served in the democratic party but also at his university in west chester university. yesterday around 12:30 in the afternoon police say his car was hit by a tractor trailer that entered into oncoming traffic before turning. seven other cars were involved in the crash that caused a chain reaction. swope was the only one who died. he worked as an administrative assistant for county commissioner kathico zone who he helicoptered get elected. was an eternal optimist who loved his parents, nana, cats, the steelers, gaim of throwns, his fraternity, weird strategy games, super maria, "the daily show" and politics. it's just such a quick change of events. on tuesday, democrats were celebrating so many big wins. but today they're certainly in mourning. report live, aundrea cline-thomas, nbc10 news. >>> and now to our first alert weather. and we're tracking some showers headed our way

"action news" reporter bob brooks is live at the chester county d.a.'s office in west chester. bob, authorities had more information today after a weekend of investigation. >> reporter: jim, they do. part of that grim news again think about this though on the positive side. 133 of these seniors were able to be saved. many of whom couldn't even move on their own so that's truly an incredible feat an incredible rescue mission but again, unfortunately four of those seniors still are unaccounted for. now where we begin our story we have surveillance video from inside the barclay center of some dramatic rescue. let's take a look. it's the beginning of the rescue efforts. you see a firefighter lift up a senior resident. from there it was a race against time. the opponent the massive fire so hot it was melting the rescue gear. >> they kept going back in there until their helmets were melting and cracked. >> reporter: chester county d.a. tom hogan told us grim news around 3 o'clock, that despite the incredible effort that saved 133 seniors, four are still unaccounted for. while a team

annie. >> reporter: and, walter, the chester county district attorney's office says there's still anngoing investigation into the exact cause of the crash. police did identify the victim in this fatal accident adds 38-year-old adam swope. we are told by friends he was well-respected in political circles and the community here. the firey crash happened on busy route 202 just after 12:30 saturday afternoon. a tractor-trailer traveling northbound carrying frozen turkeys collided with a vehicle when the tractor-trailer overturned and fell into the southbound 202 lanes. in total at least nine vehicles involved. 38-year-old adam swope was killed. his friend in the car survived. >> adam has been around our family since 2005. he had a large impact on everything that my wife did -- kathy did -- politically. >> reporter: swope ran five campaigns for kathy, now running for lieutenant governor. he also worked as her chief of staff. >> he was a solid person. he was just a good person to have to run a campaign. very even. not mercurial at all. always steady. >> reporter: he was well known and well
