elissa harrington, abc7 news. >>> the chp released the name of the suspect accused in the hit and run crash that killed four people in san pablo. they say 47-year-old fred loef sacramento fled the scene after the crash on westbound interstate 80 last night and he was arrested not long after and booked into jail. he's charged with vehicular manslaughter, hit and run, dui and driving with a suspended license. bail set at more than 1 maryland. >>> wet weather was a factor in a number of spinouts across the bay area today. one person died on interstate 80 in emeryville after the car they were in spun out and slacked into a pickup trucking that had also spun out of control moments earlier. all eastbound wlaens closed more than an hour. bad weather and a bald tire may have contributed to a crash that killed a person in sausalito this morning. a van flipped over near the spencer off-ramp of highway 101 just after 8:30. at one point, traffic backed up to highway 1 mill valley. the lanes reopened just before 11:30. chp says slow down when it's raining and make sure there's enough space between

abc 7 news reporter elissa harrington shows us that project that is paying tribute to hundreds of bayvets. >> it was a little difficult. it was a little emotional at times for me. >> reporter: sean stevens still gets tears in his eyes thinking about his years in afghanistan with the national guard. >> war is not videogames. it is forever. the scars can be physical and they can be mental. >> reporter: his experiences forever changed his life and now will forever live on in the library of congress. stevens is one of 200 bay area veterans who have been interviewed for an oral history project called "honoring our marin veterans." the people asking the questions, high schoolers like emily sweet. >> we ask a bunch of questions, and those interviews with paperwork and logs of the audio will go to the library of congress for preservation of their stories. >> reporter: the mission is to interview all living bay area vets so their stories can be shared with future generations. >> it's really about day to day and the everyday people that have been fighting to preserve the liberty and the freedom

let's begin with abc 7 news reporter elissa harrington live in santa rosa. alissa? >> reporter: the rain is coming down in santa rosa which is causing a great deal of concern tonight. you can see barriers are up at crosscreek road. that's because this area is closed to the public. pipe underground burned away during the fire, which is causing a great risk. just a month after fires devastated parts of santa rosa the rain now poses a new threat. mudslides, flooding, debris flows, and sinkholes. one sinkhole already opened up on newberry court. the reason? plastic drainpipes burned and melted underground in the october firestorm. >> the pipes caught fire and in some cases were destroyed. >> this means in some areas there's nothing there to support any runoff from the rain. the city has identified 23 trouble spots. one of those, cross-creek road at fountain grove. they closed the street to the public while they make repairs. >> in this particular case there's no homes in the area. unfortunately, they've been burned. however, this is a major thoroughfare, so this is a st
