joining us now from our washington studio is eric rosen of the brookings institute.e has worked for the u.s. state department on counterterrorism issues. it is good to have you on the program. what are your views on what we're hearing from the u.s. president in terms of changing immigration policy? he says what he wants to do now will help prevent future islamist related terror attacks in the u.s. is he right? guest: thank you. certainly, strong borders and tough vetting of individuals seeking to come to the united states is always appropriate, but i think we have to look at the facts here, which are he was a permanent legal resident who presum presumably when he was granted access to this country he was bedded rigorously in 2010 by immigration authorities. they, clearly, didn't find anything that would require him not to be admitted. clearly, this is a situation of radicalization at home in this country. it is domestic radicalization. too often, the president seems to focus on an international solution to a problem when it is really quite local. i think more resourc
