officials say the package was sent to a residence through the u.s. postal service. it exploed a short time later which injured someone. sources tell me the it was sent to the home of a police officer. another similar case happened last month, october 19th in east palo alto. a package was sent to a home. it also detonated and injured someone. it's unclear if that package was also sent to the home of a police officer. federal inspectors tell us they are working hard to try to solve these cases.it is a serious federal offence with stiff penalties we are the law enforcement arm for the post office we're federal agents working with detectives here at the alameda police department we're going to be putting a lot of effort into this case.(j.r.)authorities that i've talked with say this type of crime is extremely rare. i did ask if they believe if this was gang related but they wouldn't answer that question saying this is an open case. live in alameda, j.r. stone kron 4 news.
