david fitzpatrick, an operator at the university park in philadelphia. welcome to you both. jay, david, i'm going to start with you. how many federal employees are going to be placed on furlough starting monday morning, and which agencies do you see suffering the most here? >> approximately 1 million federal employees would be placed on furlough monday morning, and the agencies that you would see first are department of defense, hud, parks, national monuments, social security, the list would continue to work down. va medical centers would continue to be open, as well as border patrol, tsa, but you have to remember those that are required to go to work still will not get paid on payday. >> david fitzpatrick, i appreciate you joining me this afternoon. you are a federal employee. you have a mortgage, as many of us do, car loan, bills to pay as all of us do. what is the impact to your life right now with the shutdown? >> well, i mean, i'd rather be at work at this time right now, and hopefully that this doesn't go on long enough where i'm not going to receive a pay, so, you know

jim fitzpatrick, thanks forjoining us. the brexit secretary davidter britain leaves the eu in march next year. he confirmed that during the time the uk would be free to sign new trade agreements. but mr davis played down rifts within his own party over europe, insisting there was ‘no difference' between himself, the chancellor and theresa may over brexit. 0ur political correspondent alex forsyth reports. in teesside today the brexit secretary was trying to calm troubled waters. surrounded by businesses dependent on eu trade, he promised certainty and continuity when we leave. david davis set out the government's plans for a transition period of up to two years after brexit. this is a bridge to a new future partnership, where crucially the united kingdom is outside the single market and outside of the customs union. he said for business there would be no dramatic change, but the uk would start to talk trade with other countries, all to be negotiated with the eu, but for now it's comments by his cabinet colleague that is causing problems. the chancell
