let's get right to fox 29's jeff cole live in northampton township. jeff?> reporter: lucy, it's the sad out growth of a bitter cold that's gripped our region of late. an elderly woman makes a fatal mistake. she ventures into the cold either last night or into the early morning. it was 10:30 this morning when the folks living in this free mans lane holland township home opened the shades of back window to a startling sight. their elderly neighbor was sprawled in the snow. police were quickly called. >> for some reason, she exited the back of her house apparently fell in the snow and was unable to get up and expired outside of the residence. >> reporter: the woman was 88 years old and lived in home directly behind where her body was found. police say the shower was running in her residence and night clothing was found nearby. this woman who spends time in this complex says she knew the spry elderly woman. >> she was very nice woman who had a lot of energy. she liked to go outside and feed the birds and she got around quiet often and was in great shape. >> rep
