we invented the terp, the peace process or middle east peace process. and it's probably -- there's a lot of writing about this. it's probably partly the american legalization of foreign policy. so many lawyers like me involved in foreign policy, like congressman desantis, lawyers like process. so you have the peace process. and keeping the process alive has actually become over the years more important than whether the process actually achieves anything. we've had this process. we've had carter in camp david. oslo, of course, and the kind of current process since 1991. we've had bill clinton at camp david in 2000. we've had annapolis in 2008. 2007. and the negotiations that followed. so the process has been going on for decades. but it hasn't produced peace. and i would have to say in my view, it is unlikely to do so because in a way the goal hasn't been peace. we fixed upon a goal early on even if it wasn't announced after absolutely independent sovereign palestinian state. and so that's what we've been pushing for rather than saying, what's up? what's
