and many thanks to leader pelosi and assistant leader clyburn. i'm so excited to introduce our speak are, vice president, joe biden. so paraphrase our speaker, he is a big f'ing deal. it's an irish phrase. he is such a big deal that as joe crowley mentioned, when our caucus was asked who our keynote speaker should be, joe biden was far and away the most popular choice. and i thought about why. across our diverse caucus where we have very different districts and we sometimes have very different ideas about the way to move forward. why did we have such consensus? about wanting to hear from joe biden? of course there are some obvious reasons. joe's brilliant career in the senate. service as vice president to president obama. his expertise in foreign policy. clear-eyed focus on the economy. and undeniable authenticity. then there's joe's strength and dignity in the face of tremendous loss. and his determination that other families not go through the pain that his had to endure. all of these accomplishments are remarkable but it's not the full story.
