jenna here now with more of the information.>> reporter: quite a lot of new detail came out today in the course of the investigation. i will share -- the shooter took and uber ride to the school. and was in the building seven minutes opening fire before running out with the other students to get away. 19-year-old nikolas cruz face the charges thursday in one of the nations deadliest school shootings.>> you are charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.>> reporter: the sheriff that the shooter took over mac to marjory stoneman douglas high school wednesday.>> he said the shooter brought a semi automatic rifle. a backpack with additional magazines a gas mask is smoke biarnaise and pulled the alarm to lure people out of the classrooms. he fired into five classrooms then went to the third floor to shoot at fleeing students through a window. the high impact glass did not shatter. he dropped his rifle and backpack and ran outside.>> the suspect crossfield and ran west along with others who were fleeing. and tried to mix in with the group running away.>> reporter: 40 minutes later a pol
