you know, john hagen who's played cello with me since 1979, john started taking pictures of the venues at soundcheck, just sitting his, setting his camera on the edge of the stage and doing a timer, yes. - with a timer. and so, i thought his pictures were great, and so i tried doing it too with a tripod, and so i just kept doing it. - people get to come see you, you estimated how many dates would you say a year you're on the road? - oh, 100, 110. - 100, 110. more than it used to be or as many? - no about the same. - about the same, hasn't changed. so there is you, there's you and a large band, there's you and an array of friends. i mean, john hiatt seems to be at your side almost like glued to you or you to him, which is great, to see the two of you guys together is amazing. it's a different configuration. you don't just go out at one flavor. you have many flavors. - you know, and it's, i can kinda only sustain the large band in the summertime when we're able to play, play some outdoor venues and the kinda dates that can support the budget. i mean, when i have the large band out, we're

domestic abuse, and told that to the fbi, the idea that the white house counsel, john kelly, the chief of staff, and joe hagen, in charge of security for staff of operations, that at least two of the three didn't know that. now, maybe it's possible that since reince was chief of staff when porter was hired, maybe he knew and not john kelly. i don't know. he said he would not do a ticktock, but in the name of transparency, that's what we need. >> it is required. i think it's important -- even if it was the previous chief of staff, the idea that that kind of information would not be passed on to the subsequent chief of staff is really surprising, in part because these kinds of allegations are like a ticking time bomb. it's a problem. it should be apparent from the beginning. cnn is reporting that john kelly was aware that there were abuse allegations against rob porter. the question of how much -- how extensive that knowledge was is open for debate, but the idea that no one in the white house knew, we knew senior advisers in the white house were aware this was a problem, and, you know, that fact alone, i think,

john kelly, a camp wanting to lay it at the feet of don mcgahn. today is the first day that my former colleague and friend joe hagen's name has been in the press as someone i acknowledge, and hope hicks. what do you think under girds the blame game going on? >> well, part of it, nicole, is that the chaos that existed early on in the administration never fully went away. all of that infighting just sort of -- they hit pause for a little while to try to get things together. but there are still all sorts of personal agendas, intentions and rivalries inside that west wing. you have a crisis moment like what happened this week with rob porter and all of that is sort of bursting forward. and the people in there who don't like john kelly or against him or feel he's too controlling are taking advantage of the moment to try to kill him off. the people who have issues with hope hicks are trying to do the same to her and so on and so forth. and what you have in the middle of it all is the ring leader, the president, who has some tough decisions to make here. and it's not entirely clear, you know, what move exactly he should be making right now unless he wer
