cnn, provo, utah. >>> the new yorker magazine is out with a report that says president trump had an affairith a playboy model more than ten years ago, while married to melania trump. the white house firmly denies the allegation. it is based on a hand-written document from karen mcdougal. she says months after the affair, a tabloid sympathetic to mr. trump bought her story, in order to kill it. brian has more. >> reporter: donald trump and former playboy model, karen mcdougal. in a bombshell story, the new yorker is detailing evidence of a nine-month affair that started in 2006 and a pay-off scheme to keep the story from going public. >> she feels she ultimately was cornered into a set of contracts she finds ownerous and exploitive. she's frustrated with her inability to speak, in her view and has regrets about this. >> reporter: the national inquirer paid $150,000 for the rights to mcdougal's story in 2016, then never published it. the company in charge of the tabloid, which is pro-trump, said they did not find her story credible. former employees of media inc. says it is a catch and kill.

he gave the keynote address at the lincoln day dinner in provo, utah. this runs about 40 minutes. a few months ago, as we were preparing for this event, we ran a lot of names across everyone and we sent out some requests. 0 we sent out some information. and we -- and then name of the speaker that is coming in a few minutes came across our thoughts and ideas in the midst of all of these discussions. and it was about a month ago that we found that everyone turned us down that we liked but we go big and tried to get awesome people that you would like to listen to. we put in a tickler and thought let's try. we put in a tickler to try to get the republican -- the former republican national presidential nominee from the party to come speak to us. that took a few weeks. it was only just two to three weeks ago that we actually had an answer. we thought that was fantastic. then we went spinning quickly to try to organize and finalize what we were going to do this evening. so we want you to know that we are grateful for our speaker tonight to come and speak to us about his experiences as a

public with the republican caucus in the last 12 weeks than i have said in combined lifetime here in provo. they are good people. i want you to know that there is hope. we can do good things. i want you to know as well it is an honor to serve as your representative in the third district. thank you for your trust and for your confidence. i hope you will all come see me soon.
