one story we need to pay attention to is the state department official by the name of jonathan wiener. what is significant about his job or his role in this? >> we have been hearing for a while about state department involvement in the trump dossier, that they knew about it at the time and now we have an article in a state department official's own words, mr. weiner wrote an op-ed for the "washington post". in the summer and fall of 2016 he met with christopher steele. he read the trump dossier as it existed at that time. he wrote a summary of the dossier's allegations for top state department officials including john kerry, the secretary of state and discussed it with sidney blumenthal, a long-time clinton operative and actually received some information from cody sheerer, another clinton operative and passed that along. so now we have in the person of weiner some more information about what the state department knew about the dossier at the time. >> bill: another layer on the onion. the "wall street journal" today writes who is christopher steele? the last paragraph says this. watch
