sean duffy in tells me harley dade son in india get hit 100% on motorcycles. why don't we renegotiate this stuff, so what if the price of aluminum is higher, costs harley-davidson more to make the motorcycle, if they sell them more in india, they're not slapping on 100% tariff, maybe we level playing field that is more meaningful? >> i would say a couple things why the markets are concerned about this. first reason, any tariff is a tax. you're increasing the price on imported goods. so when you increase the price on imported aluminum or steel, it will mean, we have estimate today cost of a car could go up something like $300, about what it might cost to you repaint the car or put on a new steering wheel. so that is one issue. the other issue is these, so this one tax from increased tariffs on steel and aluminum in of itself is very small piece of the overall economy. the concern is that this feeds on itself. so the europeans are saying, and chinese are saying, that they might retaliate. now you know president trump has a point a lot of countries, a lost americ

wisconsin republican sean duffy here. nice to see you. you come a state with 3% unemployment.t is remarkable. how does this affect people? >> for those companies, they will pay them more for it. they are complaining about it. we have some industries in our field that could have retaliation from europe and other countries on our egg products, so they don't like it as well. if you step back and say, i'm a free-trade guy, it's good for jobs. when america is the only country that's open and the other countries are close, that's not fair trade. what donald is doing here is pushing a broader conversation, not just on steel and aluminum, but it's also saying we will have more prosperity with taxes and tariffs. >> bill: do you think this is a good move? one of the big points made yesterday was every administration is talking about this but not doing anything about it, and he is there to change that. is it a good move? >> it could go bad. if we get into a trade war, that's not great for us. if we get retaliation from other countries, that could be very negative for the economy. preside

trish: this example was actually pointed out to me by sean duffy, congressman duffy, who hails from wisconsin. he said you know, we have harley-davidson in wisconsin. and harley-davidson will have to see up tick what it pays to make its motorcycles but he said what about this? what if suddenly we could go to india and renegotiate our trade agreement with india? right now there is 100% tariff on all motorcycles going into india. they cost twice as much as they should? if we say to india, that is not going it fly, all of sudden maybe that starts to offset increase costs? >> i'm all for that. i'm all for changing bilateral agreements that are fair, okay, trade agreements for the u.s. no one is disagreeing with that. trish: okay. >> i'm 100% supporter of that. where i'm not supportive where we make this mass case, okay. then all of a sudden they have these unintended consequence. take harley-davidson. the first thing that happened, the first 24 hours, the uk may start taxing on just harley-davidson and bourbon and whiskey, other things, levi, all of sudden you're picking winners and losers. you'r

talking about tariffs here, i'm repeating myself but i just love this example that congressman sean duffy gave meet other night when i was in for my friend lou dobbs. >> let's hear it. trish: look, he has harley-davidson in wisconsin, yes, they have to pay more for raw materials and slightly higher motorcycle prices but think about what could happen for that company if they're able to sell more of those in places likes india? they have a 100% tariffs right now on harley-davidson motorcycles in india. if if you get rid of those tariffs, gosh, you have the opportunity to sell more and offset higher prices for steel and aluminum. what do you think about that? >> i hope that does. when ceo tim cook went over to apple and reason he did there was rule, you can't open retail stores of india, unless 80% of the components of stuff you're selling is made in india. you understand why a new economy would do that. trish: by the way china does that. >> of course. india, china, building their economies, they're still emerging, they're a force to be reckoned with. some of the largest economies in the wor

don't flood the market with cheap goods, such as they do in their dairy industry which is hurting sean duffy's constituents in wisconsin, if they're actually fair about things, well then, we don't charge them the tariff. how about that? >> you make a good point, trish. at the end of the day you're conceding the american people are going to see rising prices whether they're buying a new car or whether they're buying a new gallon of milk. that is the second and third order effect of a trade war that can occur between us and other nations due to tariffs that will increase the cost of goods, not just related to steel and aluminum. when we see the effect that will have on agriculture, on farmers in places like my district in northeast indiana, that is a negative consequence. trish: congressman banks, we haven't had inflation, zip, zero, nada for eight years, no inflation despite everything our federal reserve has done, don't you think that is a little weird? can't we use a little to buy today instead of six months from now. >> i couldn't agree with you more. that's why i'm so proud of the tax cuts
