my name is oscar quintanilla, planner with the transportation authority. today we're recommending allocation of funding to sf requests for $8.8 million. the first is a request to fund the rebuild of 25 large pulleys, that guide the cable car transaction power cables throughout the system. the large pulleys shown on the slide are at the end of their useful life and will be rebuilt according to their design. work will occur during cable car shutdowns scheduled for the prop k funded gear box overhaul project. work will be done between spring 2018 and summer 2020, and page three of the table includes individual locations and the timing of the scheduled shutdowns. next is a $425,000 request to construct 21 transit bulbs between lincoln way and haulway avenue. this includes new signals, sewer and water upgrades, followed by pavement and signal upgrades by caltrans. the project will improve pedestrians safety as well as improve transit reliablity for our busy muni routes. prop k. some auto manufacturers, but public transportation itself, national highway transportation safety administration, the highway department have added their voice to the chorus that said nhtsa has not mandated the use of vehicle to vehicle technology yet if you look at their website it remains a key part of the department of transportation strategic plan and more infrastructure deployments are happening at the state level funded by technology. equipment is being introduced by vendors and just last week there was a new study group to look at the standard. it doesn't feel dead to me. second position, cellular vehicles, everything should be the designated technology of choice. the technology challenger uses exactly the same spectrum but is not interoperable with it as we heard earlier. by definition this is a winner take all proposal. it was created by the global cellular industry in response to china's decision to move to a cellular based system to do that. we are still in the united states in the very early days. it has not been tested anywhere near the level of ds rc, it may be a great technology.
