good evening i'm vicky nguyen. >> i'm terry mcsweeney. that district burning in a -- more than 100 firefighters there. that i have been there for the last hour. >> nbc -- it's near 8th avenue right now. sergio what can you tell us? >> reporter: that fire fight is still happening as we speak. you can see right there, the firefighters are continually trying to pick apart that wall and the roof. what they're doing is venting a lot of the -- that is filled within that building so they can try to keep it from spreading to any of the nearby buildings. this is a massive response. one of reasons why is because they want to make sure they can contain it in this building. there are a total of three buildings that have been evacuated at this point. the main building that you saw there on fire and the two right next to it. you can now see the smoke as they continue to come out of that building. on the drive here, we could smell the smoke several blocks away. this fire has been throwing out a lot of smoke throughout this entire neighborhood for probab

i'm chris nguyen in for carolyn tyler. let's start with a first look at the holiday affect. lisa is tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> we're starting out with some fog. it's patchy around the bay but it's certainly cooled down yesterday and visibility this morning is impacted along the north bay. quarter mile there. it's 43 in santa rosa, 52 in san francisco. 51 san jose, 45 in livermore and we're cooler this morning from two to seven degrees cooler around the bay. the onshore flow kicked in. the fog is with us this morning. it does clear throughout the afternoon. it will be breezy with 50s on the coast throughout the day, 70s by about noontime, and our inland valleys we'll make it through the 70s at our warmest inland valley, sunset 7:32, looking at a nice couple of days before the rain returns in earnest. we're talking about some heavy rain by the end of the week. i'll detail it for you in a few minutes. chris? >> lisa, thanks. >>> a peaceful day of protest in sacramento escalated after a sheriff's patrol car hit a protester. activists repeated the call they've shared for
