this co this concludes my presentation. thank you. commissioner ortiz, please? >> commissioner ortiz-cartagena: just had a question. what happened with the new vendor supplier system? >> r. kurylo: it's a very complicated process. you have to be a bidder, then a supplier. it's not very user friendly. you know, the computer system that they have to use now, and it's just gotten very, very complicated. we have to hand hold everybody through the entire process. so my understanding is the controller's office just hired a new team this past month to fix everything up and make it more user friendly, so we're working very closely with them to provide them with some feedback because we said up anywhere from 30 to 40 businesses and suppliers every year through the legacy program, so probably us more than anyone else has really good handle on what it takes to get through the process. so we're going to -- it's going to take a few years, but we want to get them to the point where someone with just google how to get up as a supplier with the city and be able to figure out on

co-worker. it's something that touches too many in our city and in our society. under our current city policy, only managers, commissioners, and employees in supervisor roles are required to complete training on a biannual basis. while the training is comprehensive, it's covering just 1/3 of our city's work force. all of our employees, whether they are bus drivers, administrative staff, social workers, elected officials or department heads, need to be trained in how to recognize, address, and prevent harassment in the workplace. the legislation i'm introducing today will require all city employees -- not just supervisors and managers -- to complete harassment prevention training on an annual basis. this will facilitate the training of an additional 22,000 employees that work for the city. additionally, it will require the department of human resources to produce and make public annual audits of each department's compliance with this department and quarterly reports on the number of harassment and discrimination cases filed. this legislation also expands the timeline employees will have to file discrimination and harassmen

commissioner: of course. i appreciate there was discussion and we'll talk about that monday. i stand by my earlier comments but frankly i'm torn because i like director borden and she co-chaired and did a good job. and in my view she also did a good job on the planning commission and thought she was articulate in her statement and in discussion with you. i wish she'd demonstrated more of that thoughtfulness and independence on the board. she does at times but at other times she goes along with the staff and the rest of the board members. there continues to be issues with the m.t.a. board and how they engage with the public. particularly those who don't always agree but there isn't enough independence demonstrated on that board. and that's part of the problem and part of what you hear from various advocates. regardless of what happens today or next week, i hope you will continue to dialogue with board members and those who support and oppose things the m.t.a. does to do better as a city. i think that's incredibly important to all of us and again i really do like director borden. >> commissioner: great. thanks. any other members of the community wish to comment -- you'l
