on the right, relative political newcomer, ivan duque. he is the business pick, keen on boosting investment and economic growth here in colombia. and gustavo petro, a former rebel with the now defunct m19 movement and a former mayor of bogota. he had has made fighting inequality and corruption the heart of his campaign. the fact that gustavo petro has got this far is a big dealfor colombia. this is a politically conservative country and since 2016, the left has become legitimised, it has not been as associated with violence as it once was. it still faces big challenges. people here are still nervous of the left after more than 50 years of conflict. add to that the situation in venezuela. the right has capitalised on gustavo petro's leftist policies, saying that if the left wins it could usher in a new venezuela here in colombia.

ivan watson, thank you very much.ng back chief international correspondent jim sciutto with me. and jim, as we approach this summit 24 hours from now or roughly when the two leaders sit down, what comes out of it? denuclearization. how much and does that word mean the same thing to both leaders? >> on that point, at least to our knowledge, no, it doesn't. look at the cia's assessment. the assessment that the president has apparently been briefed on is north korea does not intend to give up all its nuclear weapons. a spokesman said from their perspective, this is survival. where is the middle ground there if there is a middle ground, and if president trump is willing to accept a middle ground? does that mean being able to keep what is described as a civilian nuclear program but hides some other offensive capabilities? we don't know. but as far as the president's definition and mike pompeo's definition, it is no nukes whatsoever on the peninsula. can you bring north korea closer to your position? is the u.s. willing to
